Here is the thing. I have no inside information, but nothing I have seen brings me to the conclusion that NA will survive as is. How long it will last is anyone's guess, but in my opinion it's inevitable unless things change. It's just going to be a slow death by neglect. Do we want to build an alternative or not?

Agreed. I like the idea of an alternative. For the love of W3C, please making navigation much better!

I suppose to hard part would be to get a decent crowd from here, as someone mentioned prior its already a bit of a ghost town around here. On the slip side, a new place may make some people drop their previously formed notions of the community here.

I'd be on board for it, I've made many good friends here over the years and I'd follow suit. I'd be willing to help in whatever way I can, for what it's worth.

It's only a ghost town in certain forums. The brewery seems to be pretty active, as is the BST forums. Collectors Corner seems to be fairly active as well. Sure, it's not like it was a decade ago, but no forum is. Plus, let the shit posters stay here. Sometimes a smaller community is better than a larger one (hence why there were so many smaller circles of friends on here).

I didnt read all the comments so if this was mentioned I apologize. I would suggest that there was a system to mark a persons transaction history here for someone with a decent amount/alot of feedback. Just something simple like a little marker with the number of transactions with the overall percentage next too it. So say next to my username would be a (180 99.2% NA) or something similar. I havnt had a transaction since I went back to college really but when Im done and can buy again I want people to see I had a trusted reputation in the past.

I don't think this needs to be done, not in 2019. You can always refer back to here if you need to verify yourself or some such (much like how folks used to link to their GameTZ accounts back in the day). Plus, I don't think there needs to be any association to NA. What if NA disappears? That number becomes even more meaningless. Besides, plenty of high seller member became shit scammers, so the number and rep really mean nothing at the end of the day. I get what you're saying, though.

I may have missed this fact, but will the new site be officially related to NA in any way, or are we just sort of putting up a "competitive" site, so to speak?

I’m on board. It’s not like this version of NA would just disappear, so it wouldn’t burn any bridges.

I think that would be better, but so far all of our efforts to make NA proper live on but with updated architecture have failed. We can't do it without ownership approval obviously. From the initial post:

Can we call a new site NA? - Ideally that would be best. We asked if we could do that on our own, for free. Build the new site and call it NA. We were told no. We inquired about buying the site, we were ignored. Ignoring isn't a "no", so that's progress I suppose, anything is possible there.

I'm one of the first 100 members here. I have donated literal thousands to the site. I served as a moderator and ran the Hall of Shane solo for years.

I suggested this exact idea to several folks when I found Jeff had bought the site.

I personally would be very interested in joining, helping to staff, and would strongly consider some sort of financial stake in a new site.

I have some suggestions that I'd be happy to toss out, and I genuinely appreciate the idea of keeping something like NA going.

I wouldn't count on calling the new place "NintendoAge" or any variant thereof.   That could get voted on later.   Hell, you could call it "Super Nolan Bros. Online Boxing Studio" and as long as people knew what it was they could head there.

I can never find the discord link. Is there a thread for it? Pretty sure I accidently left the server when cleaning up my feeds.

I would participate in a new forum as well. It would be sad to forfeit the good name (transaction-wise) I've established here, but I certainly feel there is a future for this hobby beyond the sealed/graded scene that is becoming more and more popular.

Read all the comments. I too am a lurker that doesn't necessarily post too much. I'd definitely join the new forum. I would highly recommend that this forum somehow be available in an archived format. There's just too much history, and I am kind of an information preservationist. Additionally, from someone who understands security, this site is very vulnerable and people need to realize that aspect of this proposition.

I appreciate this site and community for what it's provided to me over the years, and new forum or not, I will begin to make a conscious effort to post more.

As someone who browses the site more on the casual side- has there been some new development in the Go Collect world that is causing this? I haven't read anything about them or by the owner since those initial post- I was actually just recently wondering what was going on with that.

You’d prob just register as your current name. There would be zero way to transfer data from here to there without approval of NA’s owner (plus he would have to do the data pulls) and even then you may run into password issues.

People can already change their names here whenever they want, so I'm guessing not a lot of people would take the opportunity to start a new identity. Never know tho.
