Edit: Done at 101%, 1:11, with plenty of opportunity to improve. Wasn't supposed to be a perfect run. Heck, a few resets could've shaved several minutes.   Now streaming some Tetris Attack with Ichinisan.

Edit 2:
Done. Finished S-Hard with no continues and maxed the score in Endless mode. Stream closed.
I'll accept your submission as I watched a good portion of it.  But going forward I'm going to need pics with your name, since everyone else is held to that standard
...and you'll have one. Only reason you don't already is because I left the room when Ichinisan started playing Tetris Attack for the live stream. This was just an invitation to watch my attempt leading up to it live (real hardware). The photo submission will be done another time since I can take a pic of the file select screen any time. Heck, I might even make another run first!

Thanks though.

Sigh. Busy busy with work work work, haven't even had the time to beat Donkey Kong Country this month.

I'll have to try and finish it up this weekend if I'm not too busy with side projects.

Finally beat course 8 . updated score. Its not a good score but beating the game feels good. The last boss dedede was pretty easy. Went ahead and beat him so I could "beat the game" even though it didnt matter for the score.

I feel your pain too. I played Kirby for about 10 min and I have not even started on DK. Work this month has been a bitch.

I doubt I will have time to play but I am going to try. Sucks if you miss a month as it makes competing for the top 3 spots impossible.

At the end of the day, my personal reason for switching to Nintendo this year has been playing what I want when I want, and not worrying over much about contests, competitions, trophies, or anything else. The last 8 or so years I've focused way too hard on PlayStation trophies, and it's sucked out a lot of the fun of gaming for me.

This month what little time I've had I spent playing Zelda, really.

On DKC, I got to the Orangutan level (if you've played through the game for 101%, you know the one), and was suddenly reminded of what I left behind. I promptly stopped playing and moved on to Zelda.

This is the first year I have done the competition besides the one game I caught last year. I just like the competition aspect of this. I just wish I had more time this month.

Everyone will be dropping their lowest month specifically to ease this possiblity.  But like quest said, there was only one person who actually submitted a score for every game last year

I assumed most members who participate will do it every month. Maybe that is not the case though. I am at least going to get a participation for this month. I just wish I had more time to play. It will probably be like last month and I will get a couple runs in before midnight on the 1st lol.

Added my scores to my first post on page 1. Not sure how much time I'll have over the next couple days to improve on these. Ended up beating Donkey Kong Country for the first time in several years. Spent a bit of time figuring out how to make great shots on Course 1 of Kirby's Dream Course. Not sure if I'll have more time to try out Course 2 and beyond.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

What if in the case of someones lowest being like 3 and another being 1, and then causing a person to leap frog someone else?

Is it both scores for the month? Seems like dropping a score for a person who plays every month just helps someone who skipped a month?

I played in every single contest last year and dropping my lowest score would have ended up hurting me in the overall standings.  I think dropping a lowest score should only be done if it's beneficial to everyone.  It could definitely punish those who dedicate themselves and play every month.

I had to drop that rule last year for that very reason. If it doesn't make sense by year's end to do it this year I will abandon it permanently. The idea was to alleviate the pressure on needing to play during November when the NES tourney is going on and the game is expensive, or in the summer when you might be on vacation. Not to screw over specific dedicated players.

I'm also considering shortening the season in 2018

I think the lineup of games is perfect as is. Two games per month from January through November is great and gives us a wide variety of games to play. I think that should stay. Maybe upping the participation points to two or three points like in the NES contests for 2018 could generate more interest and help those who are crunched for time one month feel like they have more of a chance to climb the leaderboard.

Actually I just noticed an error in the rules thread

11 points to 1st place, 10 to 2nd, etc.  Update: 8th 9th place and lower will receive 3 points.  This works well for the NES contest, I'm adopting it.  There will also be opportunities for skilled players to earn bonus points each month

I'll have to double check with Stryphos to see if the leaderboard shows the accurate scoring

I immediately noticed the discrepancy from the NES scoring but thought it was an intentional change so I just left it as is.  Since I have a tally and formula going for them I'll update it here in just a bit.
