Never played Mad City. I know that it's ridiculously easy compared to the version that we got. One of the biggest sticking points in the US version is the driving stages and they're much easier in Mad City.

If they had made Bayou Billy like 50% as hard as the version we got,I think it would be a top 20 game for a lot of people.

Nah. I can’t stand bayou billy. The controls are crap and it’s so hard to hit an enemy. The driving stages are a reprieve from the crappy beat um up parts.

Lol,I like it but I know I am in the minority.

Bayou Billy's beat em up gameplay is much easier and less aggravating for me than TMNT2. I might be the only person in the universe for which this is the case.

The turtles beat em ups just don't click with me for some reason. For one thing, they get really repetitive. I prefer NES Batman Returns to TMNT2.

I was browsing previous contest threads the other day. For supposedly being awful at shooters, Krunch put up a good Abadox score in 2012. That's a much tougher game than Life Force.

Krunch is really good at most any game he likes to play imo

That's true. I was just surprised to see someone who "sucks at shooters" post a good Abadox score. That's like an even harder version of Life Force.

It's because Abadox was among the first 20 games I picked up as an NES collector, so I put a lot of time into it just cause I had barely any games. It moves at a slow enough pace for me and I enjoy the theme.

In case you all haven't figured it out, skinny was bluffing on my behalf. I didn't even download the rom

Cool.

I'm a little rusty at Ninja Gaiden 3. I have beaten the game losing only one life, but I've never no-deathed it. The timer on the last act is brutal!

Ninja Gaiden 3 is the best for a contest because there's no re-spawning enemies. That means that progress is more important for a high score rather than point pressing until the timer almost runs out.

I was seriously expecting Ghosts n Goblins in the finals.

Don’t let me beat you in another NES NG game this year

Congratulations to our top 6 that made to the grand finals.
I will be posting the thread through the day with the details.

Just a tiny nitpick, but my score is actually 22,440. No big deal.

I kind of wish that smick and Krunch had posted something, but I understand. There are games where I'd have no chance against better players. I would have had zero chance going up against bert and guts at Life Force.

Fixed it.
I would have prefered if they had posted their scores, though.
It feels sad that the 2nd round of the tournament has 2 empty scores after a whole year of competition.

I agree. Tiers might be the better option for tournaments in order to prevent severe mismatches. Not that they can't happen anyway. We all have genres and games that we're better or worse at. Those were very unfortunate picks for Krunch and smick.

I almost dropped out of the tournament because I had travel for work last week come up unexpectedly and I had no idea of my ability to post anything at all. I stuck with it anyway and managed to have more time to play than I realized.

You may have also done better on real hardware instead of having to play on the laptop.
