OK, now this may have been mentioned a bunch of times... but it has always bothered me...

Chrono Trigger (my favorite game) amazing in many awesome ways,

On the cover however, it has our boy Crono attacking with his sword being lite on Fire by our Girl Marle...

You know Marle... the Hot Blonde girl who could cast FIRE????? or was it .... ICE (Lucca was Fire for the 2 of you who haven't played this game yet...)

How did this box art get such an OOps?

Thoughts?

Funny shit! Video games box art have a famous history for misinterpreting some elements of the game. Like, Mega Man holding a gun on the cover of Mega Man I & II.

That one has bugged me for years as well. That and the odd mystery level on the back of the SMB3 box that isn't in the game anywhere....

I'm somewhat annoyed by this... I have played a little bit of Chrono Trigger, but haven't seriously played it, let alone beaten it. Is it such a requirement that everyone must play it?

This has always amused me. I would say that Chrono Trigger is a must play for anyone who enjoys RPGs. It is one of my favorite RPGs.

Ok, let's first agree that everyone has their own brand when it comes to RPGs... But would agree that there are about 5 that every self respecting game nerd should experience: Chrono Trigger Earthbound FF7 or 6 Zelda (Star Ocean Super Famicom) hehehe

It was probably early concept art that ended up getting used as the cover.

A lot of concept art gets produced at the beginning of the development cycle of a game. During the dev cycle, there are always design changes which sometimes makes the old art seem wrong or inaccurate.

My guess is Square used this piece of Akira Toriyama concept art as the cover because they loved it so much, even though they knew it was slightly inaccurate.

Wow I'd never seen the photo, awesome. It's so interesting to see where this came from. I also thought Frog was preparing an attack and not K.O.ed!
I now must know more game cover origins.
