It could be worse, you could live right next to a battleground state where you have to watch all the damn political ads they run constantly.  We begged the cable company to show Louisville or Lexington affiliates until the election is over...no such luck...

This x10. I live in the purple state of WI and it's non-stop attack ads. My DVR is getting a good workout because of them.

After the damage Obama did to my paycheck and ability to find work in the last 3 years being in this state here I'm having to move back to Kentucky. I'd say what I'd like to see have done to him, his administration and the congressional snakes that played politics with our lives the first two years he was in office but I don't want the secret service paying me a visit and on a watch list for life.

If I vote it's Romney, him and in particular his VP seem to have their act together.

I have no sympathy for someone's inability to find a job, and quite frankly,  Romney and Ryan think it's your fault, too.
(Both parties work for banks/corps.)

I have a job, just had no luck getting one locally because down here by the border they feel you must be fluent in Spanish to be employable which is pure bullshit. I work for the companies he has been assaulting heavily (health insurance) so due to that scam they didn't read but passed they had to lay off a few people and freeze raises for three years in a row. So I couldn't find work due to a language barrier that shouldn't exist as i'm not in Mexico and because my field is one they're trying to destroy, and because I'm still employed in it, my pay has been frozen so I've just been getting hit badly by the entire mess. Again, I'd like to see that bastard out on his ass in a couple months.

Being in health insurance makes the hate seem more understandable. I don't necessarily agree with how you feel about it and the alternative, but it doesn't seem petty , now.

This is how I feel exactly:

" So I know that a little later on this year you're going to have another of those really swell presidential elections that you like so much, you enjoy yourselves it'll be a lot of fun. I'm sure that as soon as the election is over your country will improve immediately. As for me, I'll be home that day doing essentially the same thing as you. The only difference is, when I get finished masturbating I'm gonna have a little something to show for it folks"

Thanks, as it really is a perspective thing.  My company usually gives a  certain % raise/yr if you perform well and given what my pay is now vs what it should have been I'd be making like another 5K a year I think.  So when I see the guy go off on the non-read bill and how great it is and what it will do to the 'evil companies' and the rest I get mad because I just see lost job ops out in this state and thousands in the toilet with the current company and obviously more out here given it's a higher cost of living.  They don't ever think when they get off on those enlightening ideas who they'll screw to get their agendas across.  Kind of like the asinine idea of taxing the rich at notably higher levels saying they can afford it.  Sure they can, but they're not stupid and watch margins and when you raise taxes they cut or freeze pay, cut jobs, or cut/freeze hiring and the rich are just fine.  Those they claim to be acting in the best interests for take it in the ass playing off peoples stupid sympathies and emotions to get it their way.  I mean look how the Hope and Change mantra turned out, lots of promises and little delivery which even they're trying to cover in lies or saying you need 8 years to see it through (hah.)

That perspective thing will come to my house once the push for "generic" drugs gets bigger. Keep industries here, but buy counterfeits from other countries! Will have to actively vote against people once that gets going. Lets see if that starts a flame war

One of the many things that makes me not to want Romney to win is that he said he would fight medical marijuana tooth and nail. Me, being a person that thinks marijuana should be legal, thinks that is a big no no.

I'm not a fan of either candidate. I voted for Obama in 08, but I don't think he deserves another 4 years. Romney is so out of touch it's not even funny, so no way I can vote for him, either. I wish there was someone worthwhile to vote for, but unless you have tons of money you can't even get a nomination. So we have nothing but corrupt people running.

Politics in this country are so ridiculous. Hopefully one day things get better. If someone came along who was genuine, didn't constantly try to attack the integrity of the other people, and told me honest things, I would vote for him no matter what party he was with.

Honestly we should do away with the parties altogether. Everything is so divided now days. Let's fix our damn country.

This is part of my rational for never voting for Romney.

I voted for "Other candidate" ...

I'm not much of a political guy but I'm very liberal. That being said, it's pretty obvious I don't care for Romney, but I'm no fan of Obama either. Yeah, I agree with him on a lot more issues than I do with Romney. But I see him as pretty weak, caves in too much. And I disagree with a varying chunk of both parties' policies.

I'm also a big George Carlin fan too. But voting is something I definitely disagree with him on ... I've never liked the two-party system, and I do think "your vote counts" is a valid statement. But I'm not voting for a third party just on that basis, I'm voting on who best represents my views. Just happens to not be Obama or Romney. And I do think that over time votes in one direction can make a difference. I don't think the government is a big conspiracy though, lol. I'm not -that- cynical

Exactly. This is not correct political thinking. It's like taking similar sides in the abortion debate. I doubt either issue is going to be resolved in any of our lifetimes. These are talking points, fodder for party affiliation, and it's all pointless.

Marijuana has a chance of being decriminalized once the FDA and all other offices are on-board. Then any party would be stupid not to support the FDA's position.

Also, this thread is going to erupt into chaos with such simple arguments (as predicted by various mods)....

That isn't the only reason I don't want Romney to win, just a small one actually.

But there is no reason to attack cannabis, and his reasons for wanting to do so are stupid.

Obama is bad. Romney is much much worse. If there was a year for a third party, this would be it!

It really is a small one. Do you expect a sitting president to actually legalize or decriminalize marijuana? It's simply not going to happen at this point of time in this country. Decriminalization has been happening in small local pockets around the country, but the FBI still has the final say. Raids happen all the time to locally "legal" dispensaries. .

EDIT: I'm pro cannibis but I don't think it means anything politically. Mark my words - Obama will not mention medicinal marijuana even ONCE in the coming debates - he can't afford to. So is it even a talking point?

Did many people read my first post? Issues like abortion, marijuana...should never be dealt with by the Federal Government, they do not have the authority but they have meddled in state affairs for so long people just assume they do. I hear so many people that vote on one single issue and that is where many people make the wrong choice (yes, on both sides). These issues should be dealt with by each state, that is how our union of states was set up to begin with. The Federal Government has 18 enumerated powers, check the Constitution. If these other issues are of great importance to you, talk with your state representatives and tell them to grow a pair and start exercising the 10th amendment like they are supposed to. The power triangle should be bigger local and get smaller the further away the government is from you.

By the way, I love Carlin too.
