The remake of links awakening on switch is coming out on September 20. That is only about two more weeks out from today.

It still puzzles me that Nintendo chose the $60 price point given the size of the gameboy game compred to  Breath of the wild at the same price point. Surely they must have added significantly more gameplay in addition to the original adventure to justify this.

I am predicting that after you release the windfish, Where the GameBoy game would typically end, the switch version of the game will continue on with significantly more gameplay after that point.

Does anyone else care to share their own personal predictions?

I haven't kept up with the system, so fill me in on what Switch price points exist other than the standard AAA price point?

EDIT: and my prediction is that they've at the very least retooled the "Color Dungeon" from the DX release.

The island itself could easily be quite a bit larger, but I think it would break the narrative to have significantly more gameplay AFTER waking the windfish.

Nintendo also sells games for $30, $40 and $50. But you are right, $60 is the price point for AAA titles.

So I guess the question is how can they justify calling game that is so short a AAA title. Just comparing to the length of their other current gen AAA’s. They had to have added more beef to this remake.

They did change the storyline significantly with Metroid Zero Mission. After you beat NES Metroid, the game ends. In Zero Mission there’s an additional quest afterwards. So this wouldn’t be a first if they added more to the game.

Some re-releases of Wii U games like Captain Toad have come out at 39.99 and some games have come out at 49.99 on a few occasions. I was expecting Link's Awakening to drop somewhere in that range. the 69.99 price surprises me. They're going to have to give me more than just a dungeon editor to get me to pay that much for a remake.

I'm really looking forward to playing this remake. Though $60 is kind of questionable. I'm comparing this remake in art style and length to "Link Between Worlds" which I just finished. That was $40 when released. Will this game really have more length to justify $20 more? I'll get it regardless but don't think it should sell for that much.

Lol. I'm at 897 Korok seeds, and I don't know which ones I'm missing. I already cheated with an online map to find those, so I thought I'd have them all.

I love Link's Awakening, but I agree that having the same price point as BOTW, which boasts a very high bang-to-buck ratio, practically requires at least SOME unannounced content. And I'd guess that every day-one buyer is expecting that too.

Link between worlds was a 3DS release though. Don't those cap at 40 for a regular AAA release?

I don't believe it's going to be anything other than 1:1 copy + the dungeon creator tool. They would've announced it already.

So far, the original is too close to my heart (for the longest time it was probably this, SoM and FFVII that were my all time favorite games) for me to be interested in this remake, ie. if I wanna play Link's Awakening I just boot up GB Player and give that a go. But alas, let's see what the reviews say.

It's been a long time since I realized, I'm not building a great collection, but a great library.

Yeah, but I'm saying that "Link's Awakening" Switch doesn't seem to exceed the scope or length of even a 3ds Zelda title. Where is the justification of $20 price jump? Is a 2d remake title really worth the entire $60? When the only added content is a Dungeon Creater tool? Treasure Tracker is $40. Sure that was a re-release. But isn't this kind of too in a sense? It's basically a one for one copy just in HD.

Also, "Breath of the Wild" and "Links Awakening" will sell for the same price. That doesn't seem right to me. Is Links Awakening really worth as much as BOTW? It was also crazy when they did "1-2 Switch" at $60.

But Link's Awakening is my first Zelda game. So I'm very excited to play this at launch.

Nintendo is an an awkward position where their only platform is the Switch. So when they release these smaller type games that normally would have been on 3ds at $40, they are just bumping it to $60 to match the price structure of their true AAA titles.

No game is really worth what BOTW runs for, but charging three 20's for Babby Zelda is a stretch

Is Link's Awakening a bad value or is BotW an insane value?

I spend $20 on boutique horror movies, and those are gonna get me, at most, 2 hours of entertainment a year. I'm not sweating $60 for a game in 2019 dollars.

...actually, I never get games new.  No point when I have an everpresent backlog.  So I'll wait and pick it up for $45 within the next 12 months.

Probably just a Hero's Quest and the dungeon maker. I would love additional gameplay but I'm skeptical at best. I really enjoyed the original but $60 feels too much for this.

Now if they remaster Zelda 2 for $60 then we're talking....

What gets me is this really does feel like they've taken one from Square Enix's playbook with their tile-for-tile 3D translation of Final Fantasy Adventure for mobile devices. I bought that a long time ago and I think it was $13-15. Blows my mind that Nintendo would think this is worth that much, unless it's got some serious extra content.

How about the price of the gold-cover 50th NP issue that commemorates it?

I wouldn't think too much, but I did re-buy the original Nintendo Power Players Guide at a good price in case it ends up getting scarce down the road

Nintendo knows hardcore fans will pay whatever. Everyone else with patience will pay 40-50 during Black Friday/holiday. The best time to buy a game is never during its initial release!

They sell it for 60$ because all the neck beard fan boys will pay it.

The $60 dollar price might just be someone blowing smoke too. I've seen games with a projected price of $60 come out at $40. I think Captain Toad was like that, maybe. Hopefully they'll do that with this one.
