Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests!  I'm getting things started a little early again this week with a first-time game for the contests.  This week we will be playing Target: Renegade.  Here are the rules:

  • Play until Game Over
  • No looping the game.  If you beat the game, pause as soon as the game starts back up.  You may not play any part of a second loop.  If you do, your score will be disqualified.
  • You are allowed to use the extra life you get after you beat stage 1
  • Take your picture on the High Score screen (be quick it doesn't stay up long) or let the game start over, pause the game right away, and your score will be in the High Score spot.
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Beat ‘Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 10/27/13 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

I remember renting Renegade several times as a kid, but I never knew it had a sequel. I'm looking forward to giving this one a try.

If I remember right, none of the creators of the first game had nothing to do with this one.....and it shows. It's so bad.....it's good....minus the good. Lol. Oh..and the bad guys on the first level all look like Bret the hit man Hart. And be sure to throw the cannister thing at the women on stage 2. It will make you laugh.

Not much help on gamefaqs, but here are a couple of goofy gameplay videos of it.

I bet if he would have said "Ultimate Warrior" you would have played it even sooner!

Truth be told the Hitman and HBK are my favorites. Warrior's music is pretty bad ass though

In those videos I posted there is an Ultimate Warrior reference. Also they thought the guys on level one look like the hit man.

Whoa, I just put the pieces together that this game is linked to Renegade in any way. Don't really know either. Looking forward to something brand new!

It is and it isn't. It is a sequel to Renegade, but is not related to the Kunio-kun series at all, even though Renegade was the start of the Kunio-kun series.

It should be fine to use unless everyone thinks that it shouldn't be allowed.

I think we should, you only get one in the entire game, and you keep your score over.

That was my guess since the continue basically functions like an extra life, but I wanted to make sure just in case I had to do my score over.

So, I thought for sure my local retro place would have this week's game... They didn't. Unfortunately I don't have time to order a copy off of the internet and play before the weekend gets busy. So, I'll be sitting this one out as well. Looking forward, I seem set for a few weeks. Just picked up my Arch Rivals cart today...

For some reason, this is the first thing I thought of after reading that:

Is looping of the game allowed? When you beat the game it starts over at level 1, but your score doesn't reset so it's possible for you to keep playing.

I don't have a problem with you guys looping the game, but if everyone thinks it will make the contest more of a grind, we can make it forbidden.
