That's O.K.  You were on quite a tear for a while, so take a break and come back recharged and ready to conquer some more games.

I have a question for the host.  I noticed that someone more or less claimed Mega Man 64 a few pages back, but no progress has been reported since then.  I started the game in January and got pretty close to finishing it, but the semester started up and I had to put it down.  I don't want to step on any toes, but if I'm allowed to beat MM64 and post my result, that might provide me enough incentive to complete it.

Wow I'm surprised it's that good. How long does it take to beat, and how many "levels" did there end up being?

It took me two days. The game itself is pretty much about unlocking everything. The are challengers instead of levels. The fantasy characters were a surprise...never remembered that as a kid. Overall I'd say it wasn't very difficult. Milo's Astro Lanes is still better. Super Bowling is a better party game however. As far as the number of levels if I remember correctly I think it was 10. It is honestly hard to keep track, because the unlocks are really cool and are what I focused on.

Finally back in action. Here's Mortal Kombat 4. (Beat the "big league.")

It plays like a Mortal Kombat game. Despite the addition of weapons and new characters, the best way to win is still to spam Liu Kang's flying kick attack.

Rampage 2: Universal Tour

I really enjoyed this game as a kid. Playing it again, I decided that destroying buildings and eating people is still pretty fun, but this game drags on forever. It gets really repetitive towards the end and I just found myself pounding the buildings as fast as I could just to get it over with.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

It turns out that Wetrix is unbeatable. I beat the preset high score. That's about all there is to do.

Latest game to check off the list: WWF WrestleMania 2000.  I completed Road to WrestleMania, which is the only mode that can be considered the equivalent of WCW/NWO Revenge's Championship mode.  In Road to WrestleMania, you choose a wrestler and take him up through the ranks to earn a title shot.  You collect smaller championships along the way, facing sometimes two opponents at a time, but by far the toughest challenge was the Royal Rumble, an endurance match involving a ring full of wrestlers all trying to hurl you out of the ring.  After a while, the CPU opponents are able to predict your every move and will reverse just about everything you throw at them.  Still, I managed to get through it, and I've included a few screenshots to verify completion.  Vinnie West is the product of about an hour's worth of labor in the Create a Character (Edit) mode.  One of the neat things about this game is that you can design a character from scratch and select every move in his repertoire.

Now unless there are any objections, I'll move onto Mega Man 64.

All points added.

Default high score for Wetrix is fine. From what I read online the game can be beaten by getting 1 Billion points, which is a ridiculously high amount. Very few people back in the day were able to do it.

A billion points, huh? I'll bet that just gives you a kill screen akin to getting to level 29 in Tetris. You'd have to play for like a day to get to a billion. Totally ridiculous.

Kinda surprised it made it this far, so I knocked out WWF No Mercy.

I doubt anyone did.  Apparently the world record is only in the 100 million range.  I'm guessing this tale is simply an urban legend, nothing more.

Not that Gamefaqs is a credible source, but someone did claim it had been done in one of the guides. The old Wetrix website for high scores is not around anymore and not even the webarchive saved it. Perhaps someone might shark it to see what happens.

That's funny you say that because I was thinking of the kill screen in Pac-Man.

Out of curiosity, do you have the version of the game that can mysteriously delete your save data in Career mode?

Mega Man 64 can be checked off the list.  Turns out I had very little backtracking to do before I could tackle the final boss.  Here is a screenshot showing the completion screen.  I noticed that Hard mode was unlocked, too, so I put up a shot of that as well.  Overall, Mega Man 64 is not without its flaws, but it's a faithful rendition of Mega Man Legends and a good game in its own right.  The ending cinematics were quite impressive, and the main quest presents a lot of opportunities to explore the island and the ruins beneath.

No.  I probably should, since I bought it at launch, but I've been chipping away at unlocking the Ho since the game came out, and have never had an issue.  Still no Ho though

Knock another one off the list.  Here's the end screen of Mace: The Dark Age.  I went through a few continues and a few different characters before I finally realized that the key to finishing this game is in AI manipulation.  The enemies will block or evade most of your moves and can chip away your health with relentless combos and counterattacks.  I'm not able to match them tit-for-tat, but luckily for me, not all enemies respond well to the uneven terrain on the battleground--I spent the majority of the game pecking at my opponent's knees and overall trying to stay away from the hurricane of blades whirling my way.

Cruis'n World is done.

I cruised the world and completed all of the championship mode. I enjoyed playing this again. The controls are really tight as far as racing games go and the graphics are excellent. It's easy to get distracted mid race looking at the environments. This is definitely one of the best racing games on the N64. I was thinking about playing some more to unlock the Speed Demon, but it's just really time consuming.

I'm currently working on Madden 64. It's not easy. I do enjoy football games. I looked at some old reviews of this and it appears this was considered an excellent game at the time. It sure is amazing to see what we put up with back in the day.

And done. I seriously hope I never have to play this game again.

The final from the big game.

Victory!

It seems they had some problems with getting the NFL license. It was the "EA Sports Championship Game" instead of the Super Bowl. Also, there teams with names like Foxboro and Minneapolis. Not sure what the deal was with that stuff.

I was thinking about marathoning all the Maddens, but I don't think I have the patience. This was monotonous at best.

I finished Battletanx on Normal difficulty today.

Whenever these Beat Every Game Threads start the Battletanx games are usually quick to go. The reason for that is because they're just so damn fun. Battletanx has a Campaign and all sorts of diferent multiplayer modes that can be played with human players and bots. The Campaign is short, as the multiplayer aspect was what they focused on. It's still a fun Campaign though and it's really difficult in those last few levels. Only real complaint I have is the story was a little stupid.

And now I'm excited to play the sequel. I'm also playing another game that hasn't been claimed yet.

I actually don't own a copy of Battletanx. I should address that soon. I'm getting ready to dive back into my Nintendo 64 library to see if I can knock another game off the list. I've been getting sidetracked by Final Fantasy II on the PlayStation.

Well, it's been a month and a half since i last posted. I hit a snag with nightmare creatures. As i got to the last section of the game, level 18 Westminster, my save file got corrupted. I should have been taking down passwords as a back up.

I had a nice stockpile of Lives, healing items, and other items and my sword was fully upgraded. Up to this point, the game seemed to have great pacing. Nothing was ever too difficult. But without a save file i had two options. Start over from scratch, or look a password up online to take me to westminster. Best i could find was the code for level select.

Of course, that starts you at whatever level with stock lives (3) and a gun, no healing potions and no weapon upgrades. Needless to say, the game was becoming more difficult. I ended up giving up on exploring and killing everything, instead i raced through fighting only when needed. Westminster 1 wasn't so bad, it is really short if you know where to go. Westminster 2 was god awful. Tight corridors, fire everywhere, and tons of those awful gargoyles. If losing my save had reduced my momentum, westminster 2 absolutely killed it. I eventually gave up and moved onto other games - played alot of NES and Gameboy the past month and a bit, mario kart 8 too.

Today i finally decided to revisit. After a few attempts i somehow made it through westminster 2 and on to the final boss. Things continued to be frustrating, with my lack of lives and items. Thankfully it wasn't too hard to figure out. THe boss ended up being incredibly monotonous - block until an openining then spam forward + A. It actually didn't take as many attempts as i had expected.

Anyways.. since i used a cheat code to put myself back at the proper level, i'll leave it to you guys as to whether or not the game is considered beaten. I'll be replaying it in the future when i track down a mint cib, likely with the other character, and when i do i'll be sure to rely on passwords over the memory card.

Point is yours. It's shitty that this happened as it sounds like you were really enjoying the game and then this just kinda spoiled the experience. There are some awful N64 memory cards out there like the ones by Pelican and Hip Gear.
