I've had one of these since I was a child and can confirm it's god tier status. It is the best controller you can use for the NES, period.

Says he has sold 16 of them and still has 10+ to go. Wtf.

Also... Seriously... There is like one BIN left for under 10$ The rest are 20+. I can't believe the NA effect. We really do have more control over prices here than we think.

I was going to get my ameribuddy to ship me two, but the listing is very vague. Hope someone can chime in.

I don't use Ebay for sketchy reasons like the above; nothing ever feels secure on there to me.

I paid $23 including shipping via Lukie Games, and it's on its way

I posted these on the prior page. I bought one, wanted the seller to combine shipping on two but they won't. Its on the way, I'll post pics when it arrives.

As far as the "NA effect" goes, I still think that's overblown. So the cheapest ones that were listed prior to this thread got bought up. The more expensive ones were already listed also, it's not like sellers went and upped their prices. If anything there will be a short-term supply shortage.

I mean, if they are in fact NOS, then I'd say $20 is a pretty good price.

Nothing really shady going on in his feedback, but I would prefer to see an actual pic of the item(s) on the listing.

I checked the feedback as well to see what buyers had to say about it. Nobody seems disappointed! I gambled so I'll let everyone know when it shows up.

edit: Evidently I'm not the only one doing this. This guy must be so confused. He's probably had these up forever and suddenly they're selling like crazy.

haha and I still have some walking around money!

In all seriousness, almost every dime I get for the next few weeks will go toward brand new NES parts for a game I'm releasing. It's gonna be awesome.

This thread reminded me that there's a yellow Zipper at my local shop that's been for sale for months. I decided to stop in last night to test it out since I hadn't used one in 25 years. I liked it immediately. The tag said $12 but I asked what they'd do on it since they always offer me better deals. I was surprised when he told me, "Merry Christmas. It's yours." It pays to get to know your local shop workers.

I did open it up. You wouldn't believe what the insides of this thing look like. It's like... two board that are soldered together like an ice cream sandwich. All the important bits are sandwiched in between the boards and inaccessible without a solder gun.

I took one of these apart a while ago to clean it.  it really isnt that bad.  the rubber pads are still directly under the buttons.  I think i remember there just being a few extra screws than a normal controller since it has the extra audio board.

Yeah man. Always become a known entity at local stores. I grabbed 2 Sansui controllers and one of those joystick controllers with the suction cups for 10 bucks.

How fast is the turbo on this thing...faster or as fast as the 4 Score turbo?

Absoultely! This is why I always prefer local shops to chains whenever possible.

I was researching and buying every 3rd party controller I could back when Battle Kid 2 came out because it was almost impossible for me to play it without turbo. Almost all of them had really slow, crappy turbo. The best thing I found was a standard dog bone into a four score, which also works great on most shooters, particularly Gun.Smoke. The only crappy thing is you have to turn the turbo off and back on with your foot or set it right next to you. My dream controller would be a Max with a regular D-Pad

Counting the number of white bars using the joystick test cart:
 gamepad   slowest   fastest   positions
Sansui SSS 3 5-6 2
NEX (wired)   1-2 1
NEX (wireless)   3 1
Champ   6-7 1
Turbo Blaster 3 11 analog
Max   6-7 1
Turbotronic 2-3 10-11 analog
Turbo Card   4-6 1
Turbo Tech 4-5 8-10 2
Powerstick 2 10-11 analog
Ultimate Superstick 0-1 8-10 analog
Four Score   6-7 1
SNES asciiPad    7 1
Advantage 1-2 10-11 analog
AVS Pad 1-2 10-11 8

The ones with analog adjustment can be tuned slightly slower to get the highest bars, so something like Turbo Tech might actually be going faster but the cart doesn't register every change.

Maybe I should make the top turbo speed on my controller faster...

10-12 would be sweet

Mine arrived today from the $20 shipped guy.

Certainly appears to be NOS.  I'm not an expert on how these were sealed or if, but the tape is yellowed and the hinges don't appear to have been opened.

Good buy at $20 shipped IMO.

Thanks for posting this!  I'm playing through Battle Kid 2 right now and I didn't even think to use the 4-score.  I ended up using an NES Max to beat the Third Boss (Ivan? in the mech suit in the ice world), but I hate the size and D-pad of the Max.  It ended up working eventually.  You need to get off three shots at a time while holding the jump button down.  A real pain.
