As the title says, I finally found a chrono trigger copy, but it's not working. The picture shows the issue. It looks like the contact on the left side is completely gone. I'm not very technical on this sort of stuff, but is there anyway to fix this? Yes i have cleaned it thoroughly (it was filthy when i got it). I also took it to a local retro game shop and they couldn't do anything for me. ANY help is greatly appreciated.

Besides that I have 2 game boy games I've had since I was a kid, but they no longer load. It just shows the Gameboy logo, but no Nintendo copyright or it's pixilated. The guy at the game store said the motherboards were fried. I don't know how this happened, I always took great care of my games. Fixable or just buy new ones?

Looks like chip swap time for that Chrono Trigger

If you have any GBA signage or kiosk I would be interested. Please send me a PM because I'm only here about once a month now but I'm still VERY interested in large system signage or small playable kiosks related to the GBA.

Wow, nice work there. Would a Madden '93 or Spindizzy Worlds cart work also? those are the only cheap games I have/don't care about losing.

It has to be a 95 for newr for the Hi-speed ram.  If you are local and can find a Madden 95 or NHL 95 We can make this happen.

If you feel comfortable about shipping it to me, I can take a look at it and veryfy it works and then do the swap. That way you can get it back ASAP since you are close it would only take a day or 2 in postal transit.

I might be able to locate a 95 NHL or Madden local to me cheap.

Yeah I think I can send it your way. I just checked craigslist and I can get either nhl or madden for $1 each. Should I just examine both to see which is in the best condition?

Yes verify that the pins are in excellent condition that is the key, since its a sports title chances are it was not played as much as a normal action title or RPG since sports games are hot for a year or so after they are launched once the new one comes out the old ones tend to not get played as much.

Also verify that it works, play the game, save the season and make sure that the save function works. take the game out and let it sit for a day or two and come back and see if your save it still working.

Let me know when you are ready to do this and we can get that C-Trigger back up and playing again.  Mine has worked great since I did the transplant.

Yeah, the CT I'd swap the the program chip on, that board is parts now with the trace broken that far down.

As for the GB game, I dunno, looks okay to me. I'd clean the connector on it with weimans, that should fix it. The pixelated logo just means that the cart connection isn't very good because of dirty usually.

Yeah, I figured the GB games just weren't connecting, but cleaning wasn't helping. I'll keep working at it, thanks!

I would suggest some solder dabs on the contacts, but that might wear out the connectors, so a transplant/swap might work best. As for the GB carts, after cleaning them, make sure there's nothing in the Gameboy connectors and try constantly inserting and removing the cartridge before turning it one. By constantly pushing it in and out, could remove any sort of debris and help the contacts to connect with the connector better, even after cleaning the contacts.

         ITS ALIVE!

So your Chrono Trigger is alive and well, I was a little worried when I patched up the old board to spot test the cart to make sure it worked.  It would fire up and play then lock up and was forced to power cycle the SNES.

Whom ever owned this or cleaned the cart used a very abrasive chemical or scouring pad and really tore up this poor game.

After the transplant the game has been playing non stop with out any issues. I am going to keep it for a couple of days to make sure the save feature holds a save, So far so good!

Soon you will kicking ass and taking names in several different time zones and periods here soon!

I will update with photos when I get a second!

A few photos to tied you over, I will upload the final product once my phone charges.

Big thanks to Madmax for his uber soldiering skills, Sorry for the blurry photos I had my 4 month old in one hand and snapping photos in another.

So far the 12 hour memory test has worked, I played up untill I saved The Queen and got back to Chrono's normal time period.. lol this is making me want to play this again! Oh and BTW swapped that crappy back piece the game originaly had for one that is much better looking.

One more day of playing with it and I will ship it back to you, What do you want me to do with the NHL and Board pieces?

Hey thanks a ton!!!! It looks great and I can't wait to see it for myself. As far as the extra pieces, I have no use for them, so do what you please with them.

I owe you big time for this, I really appreciate it!

Sorry for the delay, here are the final product photos!

As you can see in the screenshot all save spots function 100%  I left the game off and out of the system for a few days and came back and checked all saves are still up and running!

Enjoy!
