Impressive work as always, Brock. Personally, I hated Fatal Fury on SNES and find World Heroes to be an imminently superior port. But that's just me. Blues Brothers is a guilty pleasure for me. Many like to rag on it but it's got a rather interesting 2 player co-op mode due to the interaction element between players.

In the post e-zine era, your reviews are what keep me coming back to the site, Brock. I have to check in periodically, and it's always exciting to see another Roman numeral posted. Just wanted to chime in with my thanks and encouragement.

Also, is it just me or does Jim Power resemble John Elway on that cover?

VIII might be even further out than I thought. I'm playing through something that may end up being the longest game in the library and it has delayed my writing more than I anticipated

Finally got to read through this bad boy, some great stuff as always Brock. Glad to see some games I play more often on here and getting your specific attention to detail playing 25 year old games. Thank you for this.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Of the games listed I'm most familiar with Jungle Book. I've played and beaten it a number of times over the years as it was one of the few games I had as a kid (and I really love The Jungle Book).

Most of my disagreeing with your list basically comes down to personal nostalgia as the driving factor lol.

Super Ninja Boy was the first where I was like "how could this possibly be ranked SO LOW?"

I could see though how not growing up with it you'd not have a fondness for it. My brother and I played together and were kids at the time. The novelty of a mixed RPG/Beat em up game was hugely fun for us. Being able to hit each other added some fun to it Hehe.

Interesting and somewhat fun reads yet again, good long haul work on this group.

About one of them, Mech Warrior. The game is a conversion of a PC game that looks and plays roughly the same it lost a little bit lacking a few keyboard buttons but it was a gamepad title around the turn of the 90s on DOS machines if not others. It doesn't play all that bad either compared to the PC which is nice, definitely not one that looks great but chugs for turns like Wing Commander regretfully does.

And one other the two pinball games, they're very famous, originally Amiga/DOS titles. They've been ported to probably a dozen computers, consoles, handhelds and mobile (phone and tablet) formats over the years. Sadly though some of the very worst of them would be Fantasies on SNES while Dreams was well done, and then below them are just the 8bit try hards that never should have been done they're so off for Game Boy and Game Gear that have nearly nothing visibly in common or well in ball handling for play either..

Hey Brock, any plans to release your list in book/pdf/offline format? I'd be all about it!

I had this idea where I commission a handful of printed ones to give out as gifts but don't really know how feasible that is.  And it would be years out obviously.  If that happened I'm sure a free PDF would be a given.

Hey Brock - thanks so much for painstakingly doing these lists! Finding them through Google was the impetus for me joining NintendoAge.

Do you have a date estimate for when Volume VIII will be posted?

2-3 months.  We’ve been entertaining moving into a bigger house so been very busy

And that’s cool to hear.  What did you google?  “SNES futbol” seems to be a big (and unintended) one

Something related to "SNES rankings", but I don't remember the exact term.

Like you, I love SNES as well as subjective lists.

I will most likely be passing the 4 month mark here pretty soon, which would make this the longest gap between threads. But I promise I'm getting close. Lots of stuff going on this summer. Next time will have a much quicker turnaround.

I'm enjoying these posts, and how they contrast with my own observations over the last couple years. Thanks for writing them up!
