I refuse to play into that program because of examples I've seen here and elsewhere over abuses and stupid people. I also don't guarantee 1 day turn around either upping it to 2 to play it safe. Ebay used to hound over it in messages a lot, but that stopped for whatever reason. I'll just take my nice status I have for the shipping discount.

Right now I have someone complaining a system I sold kind of but kind of won't turn on, being sweet and nice about diagnosis. I figure it has to be if it's parts the AC adapter which was a 3rd party one being wonky. After I suggested grabbing another to test it out I never got a reply back in about a week, but at least no case was opened. Another item I had shipped the USPS fouled up, tracked all the way to florida, then delivered in wisconsin the next day and now it's in researching mode yesterday. I can't remember seeing that before. That second one is why I refuse to do the ebay system of the preferred seller who will refund, give you free money, or whatever other punishments over late or lost stuff as it's out of my control so I won't take the blame.

Why did I get suspended and targeted for using the choice listings for games? Basically, have a lot of games to sell so I just put all Gamecube for example in one listing with a drop down choice. I got suspended 7 days and listings was taken down for "not using the choices listing" correctly. Seems like it was random as I had a couple of them and each one either 1 to 2 week intervals would be targeted and taken down by eBay. See so many people do it without problems. What should I be doing to not get targeted by eBay? Not put the key word "choice" in the title? Is that why I was noticed?

Shout out to the random eBay seller that put a legit ton of effort into shipping my 5.50 shipped game.

Custom size thick walled box
ziplock on the game
generous wraps of brand new bubble wrap, well taped (but not too much to make it a bitch)

You Da real MVP

They just flat out declined it and messaged them to say maybe they shouldnt put best offer on their listing if they wont even take a dollar off. There was multiple quantity. Got a very smart ass response with an lol and theyd consider it. What a dipshit.
It's all a game. I've talked to people already and I get the impression they just want to see what stupid offers people come up with so the can laugh at them.

I mentioned this a month ago, but for small-time sellers, eBay is doing a batch of "free BIN" listings right now ONLY if you also have a "best offer" option.

That is almost certainly why so many best offer listings currently exist for items that don't justify them.

I listed a few items during free BIN offer, but still got charged on the sale. It has been many years since I have sold in E-bay. So, do you get hit by a fee to list and on the sale? I don’t remember that before. Then I also get hit by paypal on the sale. So after shipping and ebay/paypal fees I broke even on the sale. I might as well just throw the remaining comics away. It would be better than getting a claim and losing money.

I meant free-to-list.
BIN classically has a $0.25 or $0.30 "insertion fee" when there isn't an auction.

When I didn't have the Best Offer option selected, it wanted to charge insertion fees for BINs that didn't also have an auction component.

That said, it does seem like eBay started giving me direct links where if a BIN was clicked it would negate all fees.

Most of my stuff I've posted lately I've gone back to charging actuals for shipping, so at least I'm not losing money there.

Have you filed a "not received" case? You need to start looking into that so you can get your money back if it doesn't arrive. Did the seller provide a tracking number?

Ah, I forgot to mention it's coming from Japan, and no, it's just standard Air Mail, so no tracking number. What's aggrivating the most is that I ordered several other things from different sellers in Japan well after the controller, and all those packages came in well under 2 weeks. ugh.

So there is no proof really that the seller even shipped the item. It could've been lost or not shipped at all. You will need to look into filing a case either with Paypal or Ebay cause you only have so much time. Yes I know its aggrivating but things happen.

Well, it was marked as shipped on ebay, but yeah, other than that, nothin'. Looking at the seller's feedback, he doesn't have a record of being shady or anything, so I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after nearly a month...dang.

Items from Japan usually take 2 weeks or under for me, but they can go longer sometimes.  Japanese sellers usually advise waiting 4 weeks or so for packages to arrive, so it shouldn't be too much longer before you can shoot them a message to see what's going on.  I think it's a little early to skip directly to opening a case.  As long as you don't forget about it entirely, and it sounds like you won't, you should be fine.  Plenty of time to get a refund still if it comes down to it.

All that means is that a shipping label was created.  I've always hated eBay's policy for marking items as "shipped" once the label is created.

So I've been selling stuff on ebay for awhile now but I can't help but notice people are very stingy with their money around this time of year (January/February). Why? I'm not sure if it's because it's considered the most depressing time of year or people are still broke from Christmas.

I feel like it's usually the opposite, as once tax refunds roll in, lots of people feel momentarily flush with cash.

Tiny complaint: I bought a game last night from an ebay listing by a large, common video game seller based in Europe. They commonly use stock photos. I want the US version, and sometimes it's maddening to sort through lots of listings for European versions of games that are all cheaper than the US version. Well, the game being sold was not released anywhere outside of the US, so even though the listing says PAL version, I bought it, expecting it to be the US version, giggling at how clever I am. When I woke up this morning I got a message from them saying they don't actually have the item and they were refunding my money.

I know that inventory is a nightmare for big sellers like that, but it's still disappointing.

Refunds usually start rolling in around mid-February.

Sales are hot up through the first week of January with people spending cash they received for Christmas, but it is kinda dead in that between period (unless you're selling fitness shit)

Yeah, fair enough.    late January can certainly be a doldrum compared to the first week, or two, of the month.

Plus the bigger refunds are coming at the start of end of February (the increased child tax credit are being held until then for some reason)

Good to know.  I haven't been able to do my taxes until March for a few years running, so I no longer have a pulse on when decent sized refunds start rolling in.

I guess it was inevitable that I was going to end up with some annoying potential buyers sooner or later.

Had a guy today that took the time to ask some questions about a cheap ($12 BIN / OBO -- obo because of the ebay deal with insertion fees, though I'd entertain fair offers) item and then tried to offer $3.

What a doofus. Why even ask questions if you're going to buy something for $3?

A petty complaint... but a seller charged the 1st class shipping rate for a loose cart and is shipping it media mail. So now I'll be waiting a bit longer, and possibly be issued a postage-due notice. This is a known reseller, and they definitely know better.

That isn't even legal.  Be sure to ding their rating as hard as allowed

I don't find that to be a petty complaint, at all.

Another free return. Toy was a mini version. Said so in the title and description and there was a ruler in the pictures.

Buyer, " need to return didnt realize it was a small version"

Another 10 bucks shipping down the drain

Another return request of a cheap hotwheel car. I had 5 zoomed in lighted pictures of every angle.

Buyer, " need to return, not as described its more beat up than i thought."

Just eff ebay man. Free returns industry standard bullshit. Since theyve said that a couple places they used as reference no longer offer it. Plus ebay sellers are people, not all walmart. Company is just evil man.

This is when i see posters are here say well you just gotta adapt. No shit, but they basically hold s gun to your head saying if you want what we already give you to stay the same then do as we ask.

and a follow up message about the hotwheel truck stating I should have shipped his 4.95 car free shipping in a box for protection. LMAO

Eff off loser. Blocked. I just saw he messaged me once with an offer of 4.50. Probably a grudge buy and complaint. Apparently nickels are important to them, but they expect me to sacrifice my nickel profit and use a box and sell the item for nothing.
