Unfortunately those instructions are known bad, and games built using them are very unlikely to work on real hardware. Like the gbaguy tutorials they are good to get a general idea of how stuff works but were made during the era of incorrect emulators like Nesticle.

Oh really, thanks bunnyboy that really helped because I was just emailing him to find out if he still had copies of his pdf's and other tools and resources for making the games. Do you guys know any better sites for resources on doing so. I dont have any experence programming, but I have an amazing idea for a hilarious side scroller based off of a Canadian indie comic called Scott Pilgrim.

Right here. Check out bunnyboy's "Nerdy Nights" tutorials right in this very forum.

Although if you're just going to do another side scroller you may as well hack an existing one...

For extra EXTRA nerdy nights - try coding for Virtual Boy. That creates headaches!

Hey if you think the NES has cornered the market on fun, quirky sidescrollers, you've never played Commodore

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...
