Hey everyone!  This week's game is going to be Gradius.  Here are the rules:
  • 1 life only
  • Looping of the game will be allowed
  • Highest score wins

The contest ends Sunday, 2/12/12 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name must be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Good luck everyone and have fun!

I freakin love this game. One of my top 5 I'd have to say.
I take my photos with my handy iphone 3g, no other digital camera here. Came out kinda washed out playing on the tv and lightes, idk.

102500    I forgot to pause in time too..... so I lost a life while retrieving my camera.  
only going for participation .... I might be able to one life this if I had another month to work on it..  but my prediction is someone will get through 3 complete loops.. after all there are 2 or 3 record holders that participate in these contests.

Played this for a bit last night on the emulator, and I wasn't doing too hot. Just got it in the mail (thanks again, Bill!), and I'm doing A LOT better. There is definitely something to be said for playing the actual game on the original hardware.

EDIT: I honestly didn't think I would be able to beat this in one life, but I just did! I used to tire of this game as a kid, but now I find I rather enjoy it.

EDIT: Updated my score.

EDIT: Still can't get past that damn 3rd stage, but I get closer each time. Here's my final submission.

Dudes... how did i get to the Easter Island warp speed thing in the first level right after the first miniboss???

This game is wicked once you get the power ups. I threw on Lords of Thunder for Sega Cd after a few tries at Gradius. Im still cleaning up bits of my balls cause that game blew them right apart!!!!

Gradius is a pretty fun game. I've never played it before this week. I'll definitly play it again when i have more time.

I am having a hard time getting into this game so this will be my final score. The power up system is very interesting but as far as shooters go I would rather play Abadox or Terra Cresta.

I am also wondering how I was once warped to Easter Island gaining 50,000 points in the process...anyone know why?

You have to beat the Big Core as quickly as possible. And damnit, I won't be the Dr. Phil of this game.

Whew!  Just barely got the post in.  Almost forgot what time the contest ended.

Made it through about 12 loops.  Didn't even lose.  Just stopped the game and took a pic.

Not a bad a score, but I'm pretty sure I could loop that game much more than I did. Not much free time this week  to sit down and play for hours.

Congrats Tom! That's quite a score. This must took you about 5 hours or so to do this. Was your 10 millions Twin Galaxies score made on 1-life too?
