So you're giving me an advantage? Hey, I beat this one sword only with 2 deaths earlier this year, that was tough, much harder than the first NG. And now all I've gotta do is use everything I got and rack some points--within the limits of the timer--while I'm at it. Shouldn't be so hard. Guess I know what I'm going to start with first then.

Yes.  However, there are a couple games where it's not allowed, but it's stated in the rules of that game.

Personally I've always prefered not to point rack, but failing to do so when the rules don't stand against it could result in my losing, such as would have been the case with Bad Dudes a time back, I refused at first to point rack, but then said, hell no (since others were racking), I ain't losing this game!

Uh, hate to have to say this, but the Ninja Gaiden 2 contest is lame. Got to stage 6-2, then remembered this game's one major flaw, to easy to point rack. I got here to 6-2 with only a few hundred thousand points to go, racked the rest here within 10-15 minutes score rolled over. This one isn't going to be any challenge nor any fun. If 1 life rule was in effect then maybe we'd have something, but as it stands, this sucks. I didn't even bother to keep going since my score rolled over anyway.

Yeah, 1 life on Kickle is kinda bad too since you can get 1ups if you want to, not by points earned.. So someone could use 2 or 3 lifes and just say they didnt pick up the free men they came across and no one would be the wiser. (I would not do such a thing, just hope everyone else is as honest) And yeah, point racking is too easy on NJ2...

Do 1-life, low score contest, furthest in the game wins formula would be okay for NG2?

Okay, my first score in, this for Double Dragon II: The Revenge! This game could end up pissing me off as the week progresses, which is why I picked it. I needed something that would be a pain in the ass, so that I can undo that pain, unleash it back on the game. Shotgun Knee Attack! Goooooosh! Its all in the reflexes. But where's Ryu when I need him, damn ninja twins! Update: Ooh, Shadow Bimmy! Forgot about him, and his "Hadouken!" Hey, no fair, I can't channel energy and blast fireballs out of my hands.

1st score 83210
2nd score 92010

See a later post for updated higher score.

Rules suggestion: Looking ahead a wee bit to round 2, perhaps the grouping of three players could be given to someone other than the top seed?  Was thinking of something like this:

1 vs 7
2 vs 6
3 vs 4 vs 5

I just noticed this since it affects me if I advance.  No worries either way.  Just thought this would be a more elegant way to set up the round.

Space Jockey, I will wait until rdrunner confirms Clu Clu Land before I pick the third game for you guys.
I can confirm this.  Clu Clu Land was my pick.

Ok so since this is the big tournament, I think it would be more fun if everyone would try and post a score every time they play, or at least every time they reach a new high score.  It would be pretty lame if we all just waited until the final day, 30mins before it ends to post scores.

Anyway, here's my Tetris high from last night

I was so mad I died on level five at the secound castle. I so wanted to get past 1 million. At least this is a game I can keep on playing. Until level 7 where I will just loose it. Btw I have never used the fire flower option so much until now.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?
