Zelda is available on the club nintendo store till Dec 8th but says it is for the Wii. If I purchase this with club nintendo coins can I play this on the WiiU?

I am assuming you can download it in Wii mode, but you will only be able to play it in that mode. I haven't tried but that would make sense to me.

Yup - I got it through the Wii emulator app on the WiiU. Boot up your WiiU in Wii mode and you can play the game.

With my recent Wii game purchases (I'm really cleaning up on new Wii games from Amazon seeing as how they're fairly cheap in light of the Wii now retired) I'm getting quite a few of those special coins...I only wish something would show up in their store that's actually worth spending the coins on.
