Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake only released for the MSX in Japan. It was re-released in English MUCH later on the PS3 with later versions of the Metal Gear Solid series.

I wanted to know if anybody knew of any NES fan ports/translations of this game that works on NES hardware? In trying to google it, it's hard to find if this actually exists, as I get information for Snake's Revenge on NES... the ports that were included in later version, and information on the MSX version. If there was an English version, it's buried somewhere and I can't seem to find it.

Would love to add it to my collection but I'm not sure it exists.

AFAIK Metal Gear 2 was only released for the MSX (with ports included in the LE of MGS3 on PS2, and PS3/Xbox collections).

Wasn't this released only on MSX with later PS ports?
Not sure whether that was mentioned.

Was wondering if a fan made an NES recreation of the MSX version. Seems right up the alleyway of something that would be done by some of the users here. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would buy that.

I doubt Metal Gear 2 could work as an nes game. It'd have to be severely downgraded. Super Nintendo, maybe. The first game already had to be downgraded for nes and the second one was a lot more advanced than the first.

I believe I've seen discussions on NA where people talk about why the game could not be done on NES. Not a decent and representative port, anyway. And... I do not remember those reasons. Just a heads up that perhaps that information can be found here on NA.

It could have been so great.

Although I think I prefer the genesis for the music, as I do with most games that were on both.

I would love to see someone make a new Metal Gear for the nes or at the very least modify the original so it more closely resembles the msx verison.
