I am frequently checking NA on my phone (320x240 screen) and would like to see minimal page layouts. Possibly this can be done with css, don't know how its set up now. Getting the KB size of pages down would help tons. 300KB for the typical thread takes a long time to load on a cell connection. Here are some ideas to make the download and display sizes more compact without losing too much functionality:
Overall site:
Remove all of the left sidebar, would likely have to put search into a new separate button
Remove redundant links, like when you are on the forum homepage there are 3 links to the forum.
Put database as a button on the right side, along with forum/directory/my home (should be done anyways?)
Remove as much javascript as possible, things like clock and report to moderator buttons?
Forum homepage:
remove rss and topics columns, maybe the read/unread column too.
Forum categories:
remove category/replies/views columns, maybe the read/unread column too.
format all categories as the "latest posts" is, more compact
Forum posts:
remove user picts and most profile info, there is a profile button for that
remove print link
rearrange reply/quote/top/bottom to same bar as profile/pm
or move profile/pm to the same column as user info, so there is only one horizontal row between posts
Database listings:
remove year/images columns, maybe class/code/publisher too
maybe remove region but keep code
I expect all these done by tomorrow!
