I gotcha. Good luck on a no-death run. I always love seeing videos of people no-deathing Ninja Gaiden. It helps me handle some of the harder parts of the game a little bit better.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Very nice. That's one part I always have a lot of trouble with. No matter how easy someone else makes it look, I always screw up...badly lol.

i've seen videos where they use the spinning attack to get past the middle section of 6-2. my run only uses the sword. it's more practical because you'll most likely end up in that section with the ninja stars anyway

Funny, I just beat this game using only the directional pad last week. Oh and it was no-death as well as no-damage.

Let's see what you got! You too Gnarl. And Tom. And whoever else is bad A at this game. Been a while since I've played it. Just popped it in and got to stage 4 then I started fubarring my jumps and not noticing those hard to see bats. If I'd been playing it for a while I'm sure I could no death it,but I've been playing a lot of my pick ups lately like Kid Niki,Bad News Baseball, and Jackal so I haven't been focusing on anything but the current game for the comps.

Cool.  I mostly use the sword and don't utilize the power-ups nearly enough, so it will be cool to see your strategy with a sword in that stage.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

EDIT: new score below

Looks like gnarblast beat me to the first score of the thread. Going in with some ninja strategy this time.

Got to this stage with all my original lives plus the ones I picked up in 4-1 & 4-2 and then killed them off by point pressing the hippie until time ran out....except for the last one. Not too bad a score, but I really think I need to exploit the later stages.

I saw nothing against point pressing since you can't get extra lives through amassing points, and there is a timer although it doesn't really count towards your score. It would be pretty difficult to enforce, anyway.

The good news is that point pressing is pretty simple so it will still come down to who is the best.

i'm not saying anybody is cheating or anything. i'm just stating the fact that a no death run doesn't net very many points

Since there is a timer in the game, point racking is allowed. Generally, if there is a timer in a game, point racking is allowed (although, there may be times where I forbid it in a game with a timer). If point racking isn't allowed in a contest, I will state it in the rules.
