The HDMI NES made a lone tear roll down my face in happiness. It currently looks turrible on my Plasma TV, but it is the only option I have spacewise.

Right now the HDMI is an add-on to the internals of the top loader unit.  In order for it to work on a toaster he is going to have to order a completely new set of boards to fit the inside of the toaster.

will the hdmi be capable of also transmitting audio or will the hdmi only handle video and need a composite connection to send audio?

when you say add on in your opinion how hard would installation be with minimal soldering knowledge?

Don't worry about the NTSC Gimmick prototype ROM being lost or anything. It's out there.

It's too bad to hear that RetroZone won't be offering brand new reproductions anymore. But it sounds like you'll be up to even better things. And supporting homebrew still which is great.

Looks like I'm investing in that receiver with 6 HDMI ports that I've had my eye on.

Okay. I will sell my computer, my car, and the soul of the guy in the apartment across from ours for an HD NES or a kit to let me make mine so. I MUST HAVE THIS THING!

Here's a better pic of the side

Note, here's now a LED there so I can tell when it's powered on.

i guess the mini usb is for the scoreboard and i think the hdmi doesn't transfer audio because i see what looks like a stereo input to the right of the hdmi.

USB is for updates, Scoreboard is a completely separate device. Audio is still analog and separate but the final boards will probably have a headphone style jack for fake stereo.

Hmmm Khan has one and Paul has one, I think I should have one too. Yeah I like that idea. I volunteer to be the Canadian beta tester, you know because it may need to be tested in these frigid temperatures up here.

Can we see some internal pictures too, I'm never satisfied I know.

Also, a serious question because I really have no understanding, why does the audio not get ported to the HDMI?

Wow, I must have missed this the first time it was posted.  That sounds really awesome!  I'll be keeping my eye on this.

but if this is the end of the repros...does this mean the NWC repro carts will become(almost) as rare as the originals?

My question is this; how long will the Versus and SMB2J carts stay in stock? All of the other carts are replicable with either mapper hacks, Famicom converters, or just regular repro work, and it looks like NWC/NCC will stay in stock for a while. So that leaves SMB2J, which is the only FDS accurate SMB2J repro out there, and the Versus carts, which with the exception of Vs SMB, are completely unavailable in the repro market, as they use unique hardware.

If your dream project is the same as my dream project, it is an online-enabled NES system. If that is the case, just say the word and you can have all my money.

My dream project is far bigger than that Scoreboard can also be used for generic online communication. The host app on the computer could bridge to any server, or do the heavy loading of a multiplayer homebrew.

I need to expand my mind then, because I can't even imagine anything bigger than an NES with online multiplayer that is fully compatible with any multiplayer game (not just homebrew that has been coded specifically to work online).  If there is something bigger than that, then I can't wait to see it!

Because despite insistence to the contrary, the Mr. Gimmick NTSC-U prototype is unavailable on the public internet, I made an .ips patch so those who want a repro of it can have it made.
