good thread though.

TMNT would be mine. Definitely a great game and still haven't beat it after 15+ years.

TMNT is mine as well.  In the nearly 20 years I've been playing this game, I still can't beat it.  I've only managed to get to the Technodrome once and I think I lasted about 5 minutes in there.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

With the help of Roths video I was finally able to lay that game to rest too.
Once you finish the game once, you'll feel confident to do it any other time.

Joe, thanks for posting the link to the video.  There are some very helpful tips in that video that should help me finally beat TMNT after all these years.

In stage 2, you can go in and out of the building collecting the two different pizzas as needed to fill up all your turtles. For the bomb disarming, just play it cool and as soon as a turtle only has 1 square left, pause it and switch to another turtle. Just make sure you dont miss one of the bombs in the beginning! Consult a map to make sure you dont miss any bombs and plan out a route ahead of time. The game is pretty smooth sailing from here on until you get to the room with the wall spikes that close in on you. After that, the technodrome level is a BEAST.

Romance of the three Kingdoms is my personal favorite. I have no idea why my parents got this game, but we would get 3-4 people together and play this game for a day straight (before saving to resume later.. those games are long!) The nice thing about this game was that it doesn't take your full concentration and allows up to 8 players, so it's very social.. it's still good for a switch up on board game night. The first one is pretty unbalanced though, make sure to give Lui Bei to the noob ROTK2 is balanced better if you have a group of more serious players.

And apparently almost time to wish me a 3rd birthday...

I just looked at the date that I first posted in this thread (2/20/07) and it just so happened to be the same day that I joined this site.  Where does the time go?

Probably Bayou Billy. My brothers and sister and I would spend entire weekends trying to beat this game. We weren't actually able to until we got a Game Genie.

Mine is definately Dr. Mario. Yes it is the typical chick game. I never had an NES growing up and I remember going to a friends of my parents one time and they had one for their grand kids. The lady put this game in for me and I played for hours.

I never played the game again until my husband bought an NES at a garage sale. He suprised me by buying me the game off ebay. Now I keep a copy at home and one at the shop. I also take one with me for the SP when ever we go on trips.

It gives me a chance to zone out and relax wo having to concentrate too much on anything.

Mega Man 3 - We had an Atari 2600, but we never really played it a lot. Had a family vacation one summer and went to my (older and therefor cooler) cousin's house and he was playing Mega Man 2 with his friends. I wasnt allowed to play, but I just sat and watched them for hours. As soon as we got home I saved up many allowances and bought an NES with Mega Man 3. Took me years to beat (now I can beat itpretty consistantly in about 40 minutes or so). Its the only game I've beaten over 100 times. Nothing else even comes close. There are a couple other games I've beaten maybe around 10 times.

Another favorite of mine is Totally Rad. It had that Mega Man style gameplay I loved and was very quirky and weird. Also the dialogue in between levels still makes me laugh to this day. Probably spent more money renting this game than it would have cost to purchase brand new.

Friday the 13th. I don't know anyone that likes that game but I've always had a real fondness for it. I just beat it for the first time this year and it felt like a true accomplishment since I played it so much as a kid. It was kinda like a guilty pleasure too, playing a game based off of an R rated slasher flick when you're five. Friday the 13th is a game I hold dear and it's special and nostalgic to me personally, even if the game draws alot of hate.

Shadow of the Ninja. I first played it like 5 years ago or so, it's just perfect in every way. I can't think of any NES games I find to be too challenging, except possibly Kiwi Kraze.

Batman on the nes kicked all sorts of ass. I loved the music in it and the game was always a personal favorite.

That is a very good game. The final boss is more about luck than skill, but other than that it's a great game.

Yes this thread can't die

Mine would be 1943, my first non mario game, took nearly 20 years for me to put to rest, I think I died like 50 some times on the final level before beating it, last summer, now I can beat it start to finish and pass the TG record almost every time.

Contra was the very first arcade game I ever played so it has a special place in my heart.

And I can never forget Tecmo Super Bowl, probably my most played NES game by far, got me back into gaming a few years back after a decade hiatus.
