If only my Vaus controller worked... i'll have to buy a new potentiometer for it (arkanoid is more fun and is easier with the Vaus). I got my Vaus for free so it doesn't bother me that much/

i recently found a super joy 76-in-1-in-a-controller and discovered arkanoid for the first time. i played it for a week before figuring out it was the famicom version, and level 3 is apparently harder than the US version. but since this is the closest thing I have to an Arkanoid cart I'll be going with that.

^ Yea that's strange, I've noticed that. There is an extra layer of gold bricks on the bottom. Other than that, I think the game is the exact same.

I love this game, it's the only NES game my dad would ever play... I've bought him a NES and Arkanoid CIB just to have to play whenever.  We used to get into some good matches.  Here's an early effort.  The action figure can serve as my name for picture sake.

Nice score, Erik! I should have taken a picture of my 28,000 attempt as it looks like that might make it at this rate! I'll keep trying -- level 3 is a make-or-break level that really takes a bit of luck, but once you pass it, it's smooth sailing for a few more levels.

So one quick question about the rules -- does the score have to be from level 1? You can continue past level 3 then rack up a nice score from that point.

I thihk no warping or continues... but that's just me... everyone should be on level playing field starting on level 1. But you are exactly right. Once you pass level 3 the next 5 or so are simple. Level 3 is definetly make or break.

Is anyone else trying this? I've had a couple scores in Erik's range. Herb, no contest sniping this time! It's fun when people keep topping each other's score. I'm decent at this game, so I will give it a good effort!

I gave it about 45 minutes this afternoon. I'd never really played Arkanoid before so it really came as no surprise that I'd suck. Level 3 is fucking hard.

Ok here is my last effort for tonight.  Decent score got to level 14 then missed an extra guy pill and got pissed off and started messing up.

And Jarah is in second place with 270! (I'm not going to post until I break level 3, which isn't going too well atm).

HA... good one Dain... level 3 is truly a bitch. The thing to pray for is that you can get a triple ball once you have the ball above the first set of gold bricks. If that happens it's usually cake. If not, watch your lives go down down down...
