Can anyone tell me if there were any NES test carts besides the ones listed below? I feel like I'm missing one or two. I'm having a hard time making out the one above Duck Hunt in the picture.

Legend of Zelda
Duck Hunt
NFT2
Control Deck
Joystick
Power Pad

There was a "Port" test cartridge, too.

I personally feel all zelda test carts and the like "Duck hunt" and Gyromite are bogus.

Buddy and I have been in contact with the owners of two of the largest service centers in the country.

One of them I just spoke to. He ran a service center from 1987-2004. Never saw a zelda test cart or even heard of one.

Retail label. Retail pcb. No actual test function.

Change my mind!! 😀

I got no proof of this, but personally I think that duck hunt and gyromite could have at least been viable to test the zapper and ROB onsite. I mean, gyromite even had a test mode built in. And with duck hunt, either the zapper registers a target hit or it doesn't. I don't understand the zelda test cart though.

The one with half a label is the Port Test Cartridge.

I believe it was confirmed that zelda was in a world class service center merchandise catalog, although I can't confirm it. I do know the back label is unique on those cartridges though.

Duck hunt/Gyromite are questionable though, in my opinion.

If I had to pick any thread closest to a Jerry Springer episode, this would be it.

Man, that thread became a disaster.

But Bunnyboy had a relevant post.

I know someone who worked in NOA repair department, and he had access to any of the carts/labels/boards he wanted. They had all the normal test carts too but never used them. Could easily be something an employee made as a one off.
