Whoa, that's an incredible set up. I'm not a fan of emulators but that is pretty legit. I love the intros for the seperate games.

the intro is called the front end. it is put in front of emulated roms. mame also has nice front ends. i think that's a modified hyperspin intro

I agree with the disdain for ROMs but I could see owning a system like this, pretty handy.

That front end is called Hyperspin... I use it my mame/emu cab machine. It's a chore to setup, but it really looks awesome when you're done. I don't like the wheel logos he used though... the transparent ones without the oval look so much nicer.

But I dig his intro movie... I might have to look in to doing a custom one myself.

That's billy bad-@$$!!! I probably would buy one of those, but then again, I'd save a buttload of money by buying the Powerpak

billy bad a-- hahaha. i also own all the ROMs but i play on my NES, NOT because i am mr. goody two shoes like shaq called david robinson. i do so to emulate my childhood and travel back to a simpler time and fond memories. i recreate that exact experience. that's why i play real hardware. i am not a collector personally so utility is the only reason i have hardware. the roms are there to make videos or to play whilst away from the NES at home

It's a really cool idea, however, I think it would be better off for an arcade machine. Specifically games that are best for arcade games, like the TMNT series. However, they might need to be reprogrammed to make them think they're running on a PC-10, and fix a few quirks.

That system is so bad A. Id spend a pretty penny to get someone to do that for me. So much cooler than the power pak in my opinion. The wheel thing and pop up graphics is freaking sweet.

I agree it looks cool, but what's the point? NES + Powerpak is cheaper than NES + computer parts.

It's all "because I can". That's really the only point. It looks cool and it's flashier, that's for sure, but even still, I prefer having each actual game.

Like a certain poster that I don't remember said, this would be excellent for, literally, an arcade cabinet. Only problem is that only about 200 games are Arcade-worthy, and that's 200 games to be reprogrammed, in assembly, to be arcade/PC-10 games.

I could see a box like that being very useful to at least a few people I know of that can't be bothered with ancient technology but still appreciate the classics. HDMI, every NES game and a simple setup is certainly a winning combination. A PC-in-a-NES is an excellent way to use an NES shell after the motherboard has been used in a Nintoaster mod.

However, I think the guy really should have released his configuration and stuff for Hyperspin, that looks extremely complicated and time consuming to replicate.

Why would you have to re-write 200 arcade games in assembly? PC's (like the one in the video) can run MAME just fine.... plus Hyperspin was built for MAME cabs....

It's really not complicated... but it is time consuming (especially if you're setting up multiple consoles). You'd need access to the hyperspin FTP for any of the art assests (which you can get access to by donating to Hyperspin). You'd also need an account at Emumovies.com (also requires donation to get access to the FTP) to get all the intro videos which you see when you select a game. Not to mention a rom pack for each console.... and a few hours to tweak it all.

It's rewarding once it's all finished though.... I still prefer actual hardware, but for gaming in my home office, it works perfectly.

I'm all about original hardware, but damn, that looks nice.

That hyperspin front looks really sharp, very user friendly (once it's been properly set up).

Themes (with artwork from the original boxes) for every game, with a little preview windows showing the gameplay?? Wow, super cool.
