Star Wars is playable at the San Diego Comic Con right now, I'm hoping I might get lucky either next month or October and catch it at Boston or Rhode Island events

Never got a message after I requested my replacement LCD so I figured I might be out of luck but then I got home and on my doorstep was a box that said Mortal Kombat LCD monitor right on the box. The box looked in great shape but when I opened it the screen was hilariously abysmal looking. The sides all dented up and it look like someone took a key straight to the front of the bezel, major scratches and even a hole straight through it! But I took off the bezel and it looks like the damage was completely to the bezel and not the actual screen. But still, lol, so bad looking. For now I'm questioning if I even want to take the effort to disassemble my machine and put this in, as it is the little sticker covering the dead pixels is barely bothering me at this point. For all I know this thing still has the old style PCB in it too.

Sucks they are still having QC issues with the screens. I returned my SF2 one awhile ago and was looking forward to getting the TMNT but if this shit is still going on it might not even be worth it.

Yea I'm not remotely exaggerating when I say how bad this thing looked, and it doesn't even look like it was mishandled in shipping,
the box was in great shape and the styrofoam was fully in tact. It absolutely looked like it was put in the box this way.
There was no protective plastic to pull off like there normally is when you buy a new one, those warped sides you see is the actual bezel.
If my other screen were to crap out even worse than it already is I might try this one out some day, because
like I said it does look undamaged once you remove the bezel, and my original bezel is in pretty nice shape, but for now,
definitely not gonna bother with hooking this up. Would definitely say quality control is not solved at 1up by any means.

I noticed all traces of the Karate Champ cabinet have vanished from their website

Yeah, it looks like A1U went back to the drawing board and is going with a different cabinet design. A1U announced two new cabinets at TGS:

Burgertime (presumably replacing Karate Champ):


And more importantly, a King of Fighters cabinet:

Box says "MORTAL KOMBAT LCD" in big letters on the front so there was no mystery what was inside.

Damn, I guess good things come to those who wait.
Now Costco has versions of Mortal Kombat and Pac-Man for sale that come with the updated PCBs inside, new LCD screens
that are more vibrant than the original, a built in light up marquee and included riser,
stool included, and the ability to plug in your own external speakers for $349! Damn!

Was just playing a little Mortal Kombat 2 this morning on my Arcade1up and got the secret Game Over screen

^Unfortunately that bundle from Costco, while super cool, does not appear to have Pac-Man included. Really neat though they are coming out with cab/riser/stool/light-up marquee sets.

That stool is sick. I might need to snag one (currently using a drum throne)

Walmart has already sold TMNT cabinet in stores the last few days.
Lots of people crying over their preorder which isn't supposed to happen until November
Also lots of people crying because they had to rerecord the theme song due to licensing issue
I think it still sounds perfectly fine but now people are upset because it's not the original song

I played the SF2 machine at a local comic shop and it felt... weird.

I couldn't even Hadoken. Not sure what was up with that.

People can and will complain about anything.  Anyone who doesn't like the re-recording is welcome to go out and find the original cabs for TMNT and Turtles in Time and pay the going rates.  I'm looking forward to getting one of these.

Gotta love that clickbait thumbnail. Really the only thing I picked up on with my initial listen of the A1U theme song was the "heroes in a half shell" seemed to be pitched a bit higher than the arcade. I doubt most people would even notice unless they were preemptively told about it or did a comparison listen.
