Finally had a chance to play, and it is really solid!

Looking forward to taking the time to map it out, since I couldn't seem to find the key I needed in the 2nd dungeon.

I'm getting frustrated, I've talked to everyone in the village 10 times, read the 2 books a ton of times, checked every bookshelf. The game won't let me past the 2nd screen. It just freezes me at the exit.

I thought the cueing for that part was less helpful than it could have been, but the far-right leg of that forest area has a clearing with a big tree in the middle.

Go stand directly south of the tree.  (I think there was a clue for this in town where a person talks about the great owl king)

It took me longer than I care to admit to happen upon that spot in order to proceed.

The only thing you are in any danger of missing out on is the cardboard box. I'm not sure how many are left. Even if you miss that, you'll be able to get the game, or a bitbox version of the game (nice clamshell case).

Oh yeah that's where I initially got stuck in the demo. For awhile I thought it ended there. Shame that didn't get addressed.

I'm glad people are getting stuck. I'd be much more worried if everybody breezed through the game like it was nothing!   Maybe I'm weird, but part of the nostalgia for NES games for me comes from the memory of feeling stuck and not having the faintest clue where to go. And NOT having google there to save me, haha! With a new homebrew game, it whisks people back to that horrifying (but so wonderful!) time in early gaming.

There's really only one place in the game where you spend GP---and you have to spend it in order to proceed. You'll know when you get there!

I once played a game where you first had to wander the map in darkness untill you eventually wandered into a villiage where you found a lantern.  Then at one point in the game to proceed onward you have to stand on a specific tile beside a bunch of trees to find a stick, and this game takes place in a forrest, and there are no distinctive markings on this tile either.  I just randomly happened to find it. I feel like it took me a couple of days to find it. Thankfully Owlia doesn't have anything that crazy, it is mostly about how skilled you are at clearing rooms, and paying attention to unique features in the rooms.

I had a hunch this was your thought process. I didn't get stuck anywhere for more than a couple minutes until that last dungeon and those statues...

I get it, but it doesn't make me want to throttle you any less

Which reminds me...
Back in the day, when I was playing through a particularly frustrating game, I would often times wish I could inflict some kind of suffering upon the game's creators/developers. Instead, my controller would bear the brunt of my rage/frustration. Nowadays what with the realtively small community of homebrewers and the ease of the internet it would be rather easy to express one's rage directly to the creator(s) (God knows I've vented a time or two at Sivak).

With that said, may I now convey to you my feelings towards the aforementioned statue mechanic. Ahem.

WHAT THE HELL MAN?! How was I supposed to know *Potential Spoiler Redacted* was the way to *PSR* the frickin' *PSR*!?!?! YOU GREAT HEAVING JERK!

Anywho, thanks for making a fun game!

p.s. Any plans/ideas for your next release?

I got my copies of the game yesterday. Game looks awesome. The downer is my copies were shipped in a really cheap box with edges exposed and my game boxes got flattened down a little bit. I don't understand the logic of shipping those new beautiful copies of the game in a way where it is almost certain they get damaged. I'm trying to reshape the boxes, not sure if it will hold or not.

So so true...I got this exact feeling the other day playing your game! I got stuck and was like there is no way to find out what to do besides trying to figure it out! It was an awesome feeling that I hadn't felt in a while

I received my copy today - thanks Derek!! It really is a great game - I've spent many hours playing it and I enjoyed every moment. Especially the soundtrack gives me this warm and fuzzy feeling...

A new game has been in development for a few months already! I won't have anything to show or announce for a while.

Thanks all above for the kind remarks!

Hello! I'm new to this site, but this was a day 1 purchase for me. Enjoying it so far, but I'm stuck on the ice dungeon. Feels like I've killed and bombed everyone there, but I can't find a key.

Any help/hints?

I'm stuck in the ice cavern, mission accomplished. Can't wait for next month's Nintendo Power.

Edit: The manual told me how to do it
