Hey everyone and welcome to Block 2 of the 2012 contests!  For the first week, the game is going to be good old black box Pinball.  Here are the rules:
  • Play until Game Over
  • Play on Mode A
  • Highest score wins

The contest ends Sunday, 3/11/12 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name must be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Good luck everyone and have fun!

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Hope to see you compete this week, Matt.  We've missed seeing you in the contests and it's always fun to compete against you.

I don't have this one, so I'll be sitting this week out. It was bound to happen, since my collection isn't really that big.

Well, you could grab one just for fun

That's a great game, and it sells really cheap.

Maybe sometime.  I'll look around at my local games store if I get a chance.

No emulators for me though.  It's just not the same.

I'll try to pick up a copy if I pass the retro game store today. I think they had a few copies for $1 last time I was there. The sad thing is that it takes about $6 or $7 worth of gas to make a special trip.

Jono, I think you're supposed to PM your score... kinda letting people know what they have to beat here.

No need to submit scores through PM.  All scores are posted right in the thread.  Yeah, people see what they have to beat, but it makes for a good challenge and great competition.

I learned something today. In the bonus level, if it's close call between the ball and the girl, let the ball go. If she falls off the platform after you catch her, you lose a ball. That cost that run.

I think the whole goal is to free her to get points anyway

So you are done with the ball and you will return to the normal high playfield, no matter what right?

Its been a while since I played

Please, you're implying that everyone else enjoys being beaten at a game by someone who got anywhere from 2 to 10 times the second highest score.  Then again, it's somewhat better than being beat by a mere 10,000 points in a game that's easy to gain...Grr, how I hate you Ookii.

I'm a sore loser, so what?  These contests have no goal either, so what?

yeah you do want to catch her then bring her to one of the exits. I was just wwaiting for her to walk off but then i need to get to the other side of the screen to save my ball so i went the opposite way and she hadn't wuiet made it to the platform, so she fell on the ground and then i lost a ball and had to re shoot  ( instedad of when your ball goes out of the screen on that one, you don't lose a ball it just sends you back to the top level.

99% luck  I'm pretty good at real pinball and it feels like they added a random number generator to the ball motion to screw you up.. that and there's no nudge.. NO NUDGE?

this is on a NON-REV-A cart

-------------------------
If you have any GBA signage or kiosk I would be interested. Please send me a PM because I'm only here about once a month now but I'm still VERY interested in large system signage or small playable kiosks related to the GBA.

Christ, ever single lost ball on my run was lost because of that. How'd you handle the flippers disappearing. I nearly shit myself because I thought the NES had froze for a split second,.

Iplayed it almost exactly the opposite of real pinball. Just kept trying to get the ball moving as fast and randomly as possible, the disappearing flippers didn't throw me too badly since I wasn't trying to aim the ball.

I disagree. Today I've managed to get 100k on the first ball 3/5 attempts. You do need a good bit of luck to get a really high score but I'm definitely learning good shots that give great opportunities for scoring/safety.

Edit: Just got the score I'm pretty positive I'm submitting, I don't think I got a single successful top screen slots or bonus game rescue either, all skills 8). 31 minute game, although I had to take a phone call.
