just cleaned house today with 14KOs in a match. The match before, I was targeted by 24 people at once lol

Good job. I haven't gotten a win in a week, but I can still regularly get in the top ten.

I haven't won yet but I've been close. Got a 2nd and a 3rd over the weekend.

gracias. you'll get back there. there is some strategy at the beginning to rack up a couple KOs. and then there's basic tetris strategy or block placement and what you hold and when you bombard your opponent

 

Just had a pretty crazy game where I eliminated the 2-6 players!




Also, does anyone know for certain how all the attacks work. Here's what I've figured out so far
Random = you target a random player to send garbage blocks to
Attacker = you target the person who is targeting you to send garbage blocks to them


I have no clue what KO or badge do, although I've had the most luck with KO.

I'm wondering, does KO mean you target people with lots of KOs? Or does it target people who are about to get knocked out?
Does badge mean you target the people with lots of badges? Or does it mean you target a person who is about to get knocked out and about to give you a badge.


I've figured out the badge system from that article I mentioned.
If you get
2 KOs = 25% more garbage blocks you send to your opponent
4 KOs = 50% more garbage blocks you send to your opponent
6 KOs = 75% more garbage blocks you send to your opponent
8 KOs = 100% more garbage blocks you send to your opponent

I know it's not impressive but I'm kind of proud because Tetris is totally not my game. Managed to snag a 4th place this evening.
I never really played a significant amount of Tetris before and this is probably the most Tetris I've ever played. The speed once you get to top 10 is still a bit much for me but I'm improving.

I finally got my 10th win yesterday!! And then my 11th 2 games later. 11 wins out of 59 matches so far

KO targets those close to death, so you can earn KOs. Badges targets those with the most badges.

Thanks nert! I've been sticking with KO which seems to pay off the best for me. Badges just seems like you're asking to be in an epic lengthy battle with more skilled players, thus giving you fewer badges, thus screwing you over when there are only 10 people left

I got a 1st place over the weekend finally. I'm just happy to have one win even though I'm jonesing for another already.

I'm up to 4 wins now. That's spread over like 20 hrs. Haha.

No problem! I typically go for KOs to start, try to earn as many badges as possible, then when it gets to top 25 switch to attackers, so it's more of a defensive late game. I find it easier to survive longer that way. Sometimes you get targeted by a ton of people and theres no chance

When I first learned about Tetris 99, I immediately got excited and was prepared to go to Amazon and order a copy. Then I realized that it's free on the eShop! Insane value. I suck at it, and haven't won yet.... But it's still a really good time.

you're killing it, dude! I feel like you have a real shot for the tourney. I calculated my win ratio and it's like 2% haha, so I'll be playing during that time for nothing but funsies.

I'm still hoping that the datamined stuff wasn't garbage and there is a marathon mode and that training kind of mode with the 99 players with them all as bots pops up. That kind of expansion would be very welcome to me.

Wow this Maximus cup competition is really strong. Took me almost 20 matches before I finally got a win.

Edit: okay maybe that was just last night. I'm up to 3 total wins now for the tournament after about 30 matches. How many do you guys have?

FYI for anyone still wondering about how the targeting systems work, the badge targeting system is incredible. You STEAL the other person's badges if you knock them out!!

so I noticed last night that T99 got an update. Apparently they're adding new modes as DLC (that costs $). I'm not even bothered by that. The amount of time I've sunk into this game... I haven't bought any of the DLC yet. There's two new modes listed: one was a Marathon and the other was, um, I don't remember now. There was a $10 season pass thing too, which I guess alludes to more incoming modes. I also noticed that there's now theme/skin options, and an event planned next week where you can win a Game Boy theme.

This may have been my best Tetris 99 match yet. 19 KOs and I knocked out 9 of the top 11!

Thanks! Congrats on that! I did too after my first match (the 19KO match). I wish they would hold day long tournaments on each day for 1 week so that if you're busy on the weekend, you can play a different day. Also, they need a live leaderboard.

Anyone else play Tetris 99 recently? They added a couple more modes and a ticket system where you can redeem them. They also added Invictus mode which is just for Tetris Maximus cup champs to battle it out. Some pretty cool upgrades they've added
