'The games I have selected are common enough where most of everyone should be able to find them at a game store or online."

I do have both games, so I could lend you one of them if needed Guts.

Or, I just checked, and they have Donkey Kong Classics over at jjgames.com for $20.40 + $14.60 for Expedited Shipping.

I assumed the point in announcing the game a week early was for the purpose of picking up a cart as well, but it wasn't exactly stated as being a requirement.

It's whatever. I don't want to spend a ton on this cart, but I have to do what I need to do. The only reason why I even play on an emulator is because I don't have a ton of disposable income to be spending on games, and when I am able to spend it's on something I really want.

How much do you want for the DK Classics cart Arnpoly?

That jjgames price is a little steep for a DK Jr cart, especially with shipping.

EDIT: Thank you for the offer bert and thank you for selling me a DK classics cart Arnpoly!

Yeah, a week ago, you could have purchased it with free shipping, but it may not show up in time if you were to use free ship now.

Edit: No problem Guts.  Hopefully this isn't an issue the next two weeks.

The contest ends Sunday, 7/12/15 at 11 PM NA time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.

I guess this would mean laptops are allowed but that is just my interpretation of the rules

I'm pretty sure that's an oversight.  That's the same text on every weekly contest.

To be fair,he will normally put "no emulators allowed" in the rules if they are banned for a particular week and there is nothing in the rules that specifically says "no emulators allowed".....yet.

Not taking any chances though.

Haha.  Yeah, I couldn't play today, so I tinkered with the scoreboard.  Much more user friendly on this new fangled messageboard.

Did you use the NES Advantage in the picture? I was wondering if the joystick would work better than a regular controller when it comes to moving from one vine to another.

No, for whatever reason, the NES advantaged doesn't work with the Sharp TV. I'll have to try it though.

That's odd that they don't work with the Sharp TV. I have an Advantage coming in the mail, so hopefully it will be here in the next day or two so I can try it out.

Mattbep's submission is on an emulator and his score is on the scoreboard, yet my submission which is also on an emulator still is not.

Hoping to get a ruling soon.

Hmm I read the thread and thought, "Man, guts should be cool to use an emulator. Nothing stated against it." Then I blindly booted up the emulator. Doh! If cart is required I won't be able to submit a score unless Everdrives count. Now looking forward to this ruling as well.

Okay, I don't know where everyone got the idea that emulators are banned for the competition, but they are not. Please don't read the rules and such as if there is a hidden message, because there is not. I don't type in cryptic languages and everything is there in black and white. If emulators were banned, there would be a disclaimer in the rules, a la Kung Fu week this yer, saying that they would be banned. The tournament weeks are no different that the contest weeks, except for their being three sets of rules, one for each tier, and the tournament also being invite only. The reason I mentioned the three games being common enough is that I don't announce the tournament games in advance like I do with the weekly contests. I just wanted to hint to people that the games are going to be fairly common to obtain (or at least should be) and that I'm not picking a rare game for the competition, like Zombie Nation.

Also, for those not invited to the tournament, you may play along with the competitors for fun, but your scores will not count. The next round of weekly games will begin at the end of the month and a whole new cycle will start for the next tournament.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Yeah, I found that out with xevious. It doesn'tm ake sense why it wouldn't work, but I get no input at all with the advantage on the Sharp TV.

I thought that I had read somewhere before that the Advantage didn't work with the Sharp TV and I didn't understand it either. Do you know if other Nintendo accessories like the Zapper, MAX or Power Pad work with it? I don't know much about Sharp TVs, but I thought they either came with a Zapper or that there was a black version made for it.

I haven't seen a zapper that came with it, but the zappers I have work just fine. Haven't tried the max or the power pad. I'll have to test those too.
