Hi guys. I'd been wanting to port the arcade game Scramble to the NES for years. It was going to be my second game way back in 2010, but I suck at coding so I've never been able to figure out scrolling and all that jazz.

Anyway, it's nearly complete and I wanted to let you guys see how it's coming together. I hope to have the game done and out by Christmas, but who the heck knows.

Here's me testing it on the AVS. It will be scoreboard compatible, after I find out where the heck to put the score.

I have never played Scramble before, which means, as always, my first introduction to a classic game will be through the doors of the school of KHan. Larry, ET, Sneak 'n Peek, even Frogger; and now Scramble. Can't wait!

Nope, that is Unicorn, which Memblers is working on right now! (He's coding the online portion).

Looks neat!

Are the levels random? (i.e. is this like an "endurance racer" sort of game?)

Sadly, no. I've barely figured out how to get this much going, so doing something like that at my skill level would be impossible. Sorry to let you down!

Looks cool! I'll be honest, before coming in here I read the thread title as "Scrabble" and I thought, "Khan made a Scrabble game?! No way!"

Would you be more or less excited for Scrabble? Because, I'll be honest, I get pretty excited for Scrabble.

The more games that had a Vectrex release on the NES, the better!!!

The problem with Scrabble would be about somehow cramming all 200K+ words of the English language into an NES cart
It would be cool to have NES scrabble though.

First (on topic), looking great Kevin!!! Love it!

Second (off topic), much easier would be to do something like Carmen Sandiego did, include a real paper dictionary. Then, players can challenge words and if the challenge fails, letters and points come off the board. Sadly, it would only be multiplayer this way and you would have to somehow keep players from seeing each other's tiles.

I have thought about the same challenges about how to write Pitch for the NES. No good way to prevent seeing other players' hands.
