I'm sure the topic summary will draw a lot of attention.  I don't want to get my hopes up, but I may have a chance at purchasing a "sealed" copy of Stadium Events.  I am going to have to travel to see this in person because the odds are, it is a reseal.  Even so, a complete boxed copy, and he wants $3500 cash.

If I land this, I will complete my loose/cib set, but it will be very hard not to turn this around and cash in.  I'm looking for tips/tricks/advice on things to do and look for.

I'd definitely cash in if the price was right to alleviate those darn student loans   But reality is, it's a bit far-fetched.

Thanks fellas (and ladies)

I can't comment on how to check the seal, but for starters make sure you're familiar with the differences between the PAL and the NTSC boxes. The database has pictures you can compare.

That being said, I've only ever heard of one sealed Stadium Events and that's Bronty's copy. I really hope this is real, because that would be a really huge find. Good luck, dude.

This is another case of "Don't get your hopes up," and it happens all too often. I would love it to work out for you, but the odds appear to be stacked against you.

If this is from the guy that supposedly had three, pick one up for me while you're there.

Proto, I agree completely. At this point, it's just a dream. But this is not the guy who had three. That was several years ago, and more than likely a scam. I've at least seen two pictures of this one. It has a price tag still on it for $20. That's what makes me think it's a reseal. This game was more than that new, wasn't it?

The seal would be the least of my concerns because even the CIB's value would far exceed the purchase price. Make sure you know EXACTLY what the box should look like when compared to PAL vs. NTSC. I'd probably ask a bunch of questions like "Where'd it come from?", "Why are you selling?", "What do you collect?", etc to get a feel for the guy and see if he's a bullshitter.

Hmmmm. . .

For $3,500 the seal is the least of your concerns honestly.  As Jonas said, a CIB copy is worth FAR more than that alone.

Look at our database.  If you can confirm that the box in question is NTSC and not PAL then you very well may have stumbled across the find of a lifetime.  Don't get your hopes up yet, but if there is even the slightest chance this is legit I would call out of work tomorrow and grab that game.

And if its a reseal, anything could be inside. Box might still be worth $3500 but make sure the box is the only part you consider.

You wouldn't happen to be driving to northern New Jersey for this sealed Stadium Events, would you? Or meeting somewhere geographically in-between?

Massachusetts....is there another con-artist out there? I got a phone number, so I'm going to call in a little bit. It's almost always too good to be true, but I wanted to keep you guys informed and aware of the situation.

Oh dear. . .

I know the guy, and it's a scam.  He's a con-artist that sells at the Raynham Flea market.  He's the same guy that claimed to have a CIB SE on eBay not long ago, and he also listed (and relisted) the "SMB 3 Prototype."  Puke.

He and his business associate are straight out of a horror film.  He has the most scraggly of red hair (which covers both his face and head), and his buddy has either a lazy eye or a glass eye.  I didn't stare long enough to confirm which.

Sorry man, but it's not looking good.

...which is why one doesn't get his/her hopes up. You can't ever pass up an opportunity to check something like this out though. I'll play along a little bit and see what kind of story I'll have to tell.

I can't recall it offhand, but I know Mark has met his business partner a number of times and can at least tell you his name.

From what I can remember though, both guys live in Billerica MA.  I don't know if that helps at all.

Guys, check this out...  I emailed him and told him to send me pics of the game with a piece of paper with my name on it.  Definitely NTSC, but reseal, repro..etc?  His name is Dan/Daniel.

Well damn dude, no idea how you got that connection but this could turn into a truly EPIC find thread. I wish you the best of luck and would do everything in my power to secure the deal as fast as possible.

Edit: Does the box appear to be damaged in the back center or is it just me?  Perhaps that is why the price is so low... (not that you can be really picky with this one)

You mean where it kind of looks wavvy?  Kinda like there's no plastic there?

Yeah the wavvyness... looks like the seal is only partial? Maybe that explains why he didn't do a back view also?

The name is the potential buyer's name, not the seller's.  Good thinking on Josh's part.

In regards to the seal:  Who the **** cares about the seal!?!?  A CIB SE is easily going to pull $10K+, so the condition/legitimacy/completeness of the seal is completely moot at this point.
