Hello everyone and welcome to round 2 of the 2014 Weekly Contest Summer Tournament!  I see 15 jousters survived the onslaught of ostrich-riding knights and are ready for the next challenge.  Throw down or chow down on your ostrich burgers because this week is going to be more exciting than a redneck's NASCAR party!  Bimmy Earnhardt XXIII here to take you all into the fast lane for your next challenge.  Strap on your helmets, throw on your racing underwear (you know, the ones with the skid marks), and rev up into high gear as you race around the clock to beat out the opposition for the gold trophy in R.C. Pro-Am.  You will have a variety of items to choose from to make life difficult for the other racers, including bombs and missiles (hey, no one said you had to play fair against the other drivers).  Just watch out for rain puddles, oil slicks, and pop-up barriers or you will be eating pavement in addition to your ostrich burger.  And if you're really lucky, you will find some helpful power-ups, including turbo boosts, car engines, and extra tires to make your racer better than any car that has ever graced the theater screens in a Fast & Furious movie.  I guess I will see you all out on the track...from my rear-view mirror hahaha!  Vroom vroom motherf....sorry, I forgot this is a family-friendly site.  Here's what you need to know about R.C. Pro-Am:

• Play until Game Over
• Highest score wins
• NOTE: Everyone gets to play by the same rules this time

The contest ends Sunday, 7/20/14 at 11 PM NA time (we gotta play catch-up to stay on schedule for the second half).  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Yeah, my soul is crushed x.x We own this cartridge, but I never, ever played this game before. I'll try to put in an hour each day and hope for the best. After seeing Luke's and Thundercat's responses, that's all I can do I feel (we own II as well, but I haven't played that either). Good luck to all for this round!

Thanks, but I believe only one of us is getting knocked out this round.  The main rules said the top 4 advance to the finals   I think only tier 3 is the exception

Where would you like us to capture our score? Right after the first continue but don't race any?

That would be fine.  Since we don't typically allow continues in the contests, everyone can take their picture after the first continue before they start to race.

Oof, this one is going to take awhile. Fun game, but for score contests I'm a much bigger fan of quarter-eaters

Well, here's another game I have barely spent time with! At least I will like this one better than Joust. =P

Unfortunately this is a week where free time is at a premium. We are having a party on Saturday and I have to spend my free time cleaning the house! That said I am going to try and carve out some time every day to play.

It sure is hard to trash talk when it's either a game I'm not great at or one I have hardly played.

Posted a quick score, played for about 20 minutes total so far... This is one of my original games that I've owned since I was a kid. Unfortunately I never gave this game any serious playing time. For the time being, I will have to abstain from smack talk .

Wish I could play this with y'all.

Whew! This one is actually a lot tougher than I remembered!

Managed a 95k score by level 12 or 14 with the first chassis upgrade.
VERY unforgiving if you screw up too badly and fall out of the running (like hitting multiple oil slicks in a row)



I'm going to be a bit disappointed in myself if I don't manage to at least get the full upgrade cycle to the race car :/

Assuming we get that far, competitively, the extra NINTENDO bonuses are a HUGE factor in the overall scoring.

Nothing wrong with an exhibition score to taunt us.

I don't know Arch... we might have charge him to play with us this round. Maybe something like a regular edition copy of Larry to the player with the highest score?! (I can dream, can't I?!)

That would be a hell of an incentive.

There's one thing I will always remember about this game... THAT MOTHER****ING ORANGE CHEATER!

You can't blame a guy for trying! . 

As long as I snag my upgrades and letter, I don't let a 2nd place finish bother me


PS - fuck those oil slicks on Level 12!  If you get stuck in a few of those and accidentally pick up the bombs it is all over.

PPS - managed to make it level 19... absolutely ridiculous amount of oil slicks.  Think I crashed 6 times in a row and just tried to hang in for points until Game Over.  (got my race car though )

Can't wait to play. It's killing me.

Update Tier 2- 199,068.

Haven't played this one in awhile and was one of my original games I had too as a kid. I think I made it to level 26 before I crapped the bed. I love when you get the rollcage 'cause those oil spills are no joke once you level up your rc cart. And, I get on the hate train for that Orange car too...but I kept some bombs for him.
See if I have some more time to play since I do like this game alot...I always wanted this to be 2 player and never understood why.
