I Got a slim  from a friend.  the open tray icon stays on the screen.  The father of the kid he got it from wnt inside and attempter to clean the lens to no avail.   I have seen the tutorial on you tube and it seems pretty easy. However, if someone can fix it here for a decent price (or trade deal of some sort) I'll be game.
