I sold two of these earlier this year? or was it late last year?
Anyway last one sold was 2000-2500 range.

Words can't, but $8K could do the trick.

I think it's cool, but even the starting bid at $4K is high.

If I had the money, and I dont, 2k sounds more doable. I don't think people would be lining up to buy it at that price either. Might be wrong though, I normally am.

I thought it was late last year with the last public data point.... been awhile though.  Just surprising a Gamecube memorabilia item holds so much value, Zelda or not.  Neat item though no doubt.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.

Nintendo went all out on the GameCube press promotional items. The Luigi flashlight, Zelda scroll and Pikmin planter are seldom seen and always sought after. You just don't see items this nice for the prior systems (or since) and the Zelda scroll may be the nicest of them all.

I would counter that this isn't true. There were plenty of very, very cool promotional press items pre-Gamecube. They're just much scarcer and information on them is non-existant due to the internet not being around back then, the gaming press being smaller back then, and the people being in the gaming press back then not caring about collecting.

Show me a press promo as cool as the Wind Waker scroll pre-gamecube.

I don't know if they are "press promos", but the Conker BFD and Perfect Dark press kits interest me more than anything Gamecube.

However... I do admit that I like that Pikmin planter.  Wouldn't mind owning that one.

I won't argue with you there as those kits are nice to have. A collection of several items in a box but when compared individually against the promos I mentioned will fall short. Also those are 3rd party titles which isn't what I was comparing them to.

When you look outside of Nintendo there have been some killer press items from recent titles like Bioshock, Gears of War and Uncharted etc but when it comes to Nintendo I believe the best of the press items were produced during the days of the Gamecube.

Well, it really depends on your tastes/interests in games, but off the top of my head Megaman Soccer soccer ball, giant "Taboo" NES tarot card, Super Mario Bros. Super Show pizza box press kit, the aforementioned Conker/DK64/Perfect Dark kits, and lots of other stuff that's not coming to me right now are pretty darn cool.

Wow, that is hot! But as a few others said, not hot enough for that crazy price. I would giveit about $2000 or so, but not much more...
