Guess I have a reason to test out my new tv upstairs. Edit: Oh shit! Axelay is a shooter? Always thought it was a beat em up. Damn.

There's a main character in Streets of Rage named Axel. Maybe that explains your confusion.

I had a suspicion that it'd be hard difficulty. The games not to challenging on medium/normal.

Three more attempts and I can't beat 00:41. I've been running the old route and am pretty consistent at it. I'm going to try new route just to get a quicker in game time

Im sure im at like an hour in and I'm at the ghost ship. My best complete was barely below 1:30 if I remember correctly. I always like seeing lower numbers but I feel like using guides or playing too much will ruin the game for me.

I actually like that I get lost or forget things some times. Makes it slightly fresh until I realize I'm being an idiot. I was not meant to speedrun this game.

I'm back in camp now and can actually dedicate some consistent time to play these games. I'll be posting some scores in the next coming days.

I finally got the Super Metroid run I always knew I could. (00:32) All of the harder time saving tricks ended up working in one swift run. Score posted on page one.

First time saver is the Kraid Quick Kill. I get this about every 9 out of 10 tries and isn't that difficult with the right set up. It can save upwards of a minute
Phantoon was a two round Fast-Fast pattern. I was glad I didn't goof it up and succesfully killed him in two rounds while getting the quickest patterns.
Botwoon was nearly a one round. Only required one extra super missle after the initial round.
In the room directly after Botwoon, for my first time ever in a run, pulled off the Full-Halfie. This trick has given me more problems than any other trick I've tried to learn. It can save a hefty amount of time.
I got two and blue against draygon which made for a swift escape back out.
Norfair was pretty solid. The Ridley fight could have gone a bit quicker but I'm certainly not complaining.
Tourian was fairly smooth as well but I missed the baby skip. I rarely get it anyways so I wasn't too sad about it.
Zebitite skip went smoothly first try. Pretty easy with the right set up and is needed while speedrunning or you won't have enough missles to complete the game.
Pretty standard mother brain fight and escape

Since we are going for "in game time" I've been doing a 5 E-tank route. If this was for "Real Time" I usually do a 4 tank run but after the amount of time I've spent playing this game in the last year and especially in the last week I'd be confident in a three tank run.

If I was able to get the baby skip, and speed up my general movement all around, I think I could shave a minute or two off of this time.

I thought about streaming but I don't have the set up for it. I think that time puts me about top 50. I optimized it for in game time instead of real time. I'm still practicing a lot and want to consistently get quality times before I start doing timed runs with splits and all that jazz.
That run everything went right for me. I still have a lot of improving to do
