Hey guys,

So, I have been playing around with my AVG for a while now. I took the time when I got it to clean all my carts with alcohol/qtips... but, the way the carts sit in the AVG seems to cause all kinds of issues. I am getting freezing and gfx glitches on a ton of carts... If I hold the cart up 1/2in so it is not resting on base it seems to work a lot better. There seems to be quite a lot of play in the AVG's connector.

Has anyone else experienced any issuses playing any carts on it? Any suggestions?

I haven't seen these issues. Patience with the tightness of the connector and ensuring completely clean games has worked well for me (and I've thrown some oddball carts into the 72-pin).

As Tulpa advises, definitely email support.

Is the Retrousb AVG something new? I haven't heard about the AVG...

Did you mean the AVS?

Perhaps you are not fully inserting the games, or perhaps your connector just sucks. Mine have seated well and booted up right away without issue.

Definitely email support. They're working on a new connector, but may be able to send you one of the current ones in the interim.

Yeah, I have no emailed support yet. I was hoping maybe it was something simple I was doing wrong. I have tried applying as much pressure as I am comfortable. So, I am pretty sure it is seated well. Just wiggles a lot more than I think it should.

I will email support.

Thanks, guys.

Ah, wiggle does not sound good. And good call not applying too much pressure, don't want to break the whole board. Hopefully this is a simple swap.

Yeah wiggle isn't good. Mine is like trying to pull the cart out from a vise... Could be a bad slot, as suggested.

I'm having a similar issue, however, I just received my AVS this week. I've used a Nintendo cart (Tetris) and the powerpak and in order to use it I have to adjust the cart to get the graphics to not show up scrambled.

I have a few games that won't boot every time, but all of them have short boards. "Tetris" is a known offender that can be remedied by inserting with the left thumb only (I kid you not). I've found the reverse to be true for "D-Pad Hero" - a recent pickup at PGRE.

I actually get this a bit as well. Not typically as much on Famicom titles, but with my NES ones the cart slot seems just a touch high, causing games to sometimes be touchy or else I'll get lines in my graphics.

Your carts are dirty. You can move, slam, bang, drop the console/game all you want while playing and nothing should happen on screen.

What do you recommend the best way of cleaning it is then? Isopropyl doesn't seem to change much...

Followed by a good alcohol cleaning.

Cool, I'll give that a shot. Thoughts on Brasso? Or is that too abrasive?

I would only use Brasso as an absolute last resort. When everything else has failed.

Brasso will strip the gold plating off.
