Nobody likes this funding because it's basically holding a game captive because you won't release unless you get the money and get to keep the game, but that's not how this stuff works. But good luck anyways.

That's how ROM fundraisers work, the owner gets to keep the cart... would anyone pay AFTER a rom had been released? I made a purchase and am now offering the rom to be released, if there's no interest, then yeah surely it goes back in the vault...

Funny why we always have to make this into a discussion about evil collectors holding games captive...

Superman 64 has such an interesting history to it. It wasn't supposed to suck, it wasn't the fault of Titus. I would definitely be up for seeing this get released. I don't have a lot of money at the moment but I could definitely donate something.

If you haven't already, I would suggest posting this on Assembler Games.

Put it back in the vault.

Like 3Gen, I no longer support any fundraiser dumps with my wallet.  $450 for a demo of an absolutely terrible (and released) game is on the wishefull thinking end of the spectrum me thinks...

I would have put big money up to help release bio force ape for example, but Frank gave it out for free.

Was this up for auction or something? I still don't understand these fundraisers how much does it cost to dump a rom? plus this game is utter shit i don't think an earlier version will be any better. Just buy the full game to get just a big a disappointment.

The cost to dump the game isn't what the cash is raised for, it's to compensate for the devaluation of the source material once the ROM has been publicly distributed.

Not worth the cost of admission in my opinion, but that's the reasoning behind it.

Well my main point is that the community is more than willing to put up funds for rom dumps.   Mr. Gimmick, and Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Punchout, are two examples I know.  I am sure there was also talk of it for Bio Force Ape.

The main thing is that these are unreleased games, that people really really wanted to play.

Don't get discouraged, if you run into something else later on.

Did you watch the youtube video in the thread?  Oh...

JD:  Martin has unreleased NES stuff, some really cool and desirable.  Even then, I really, really don't like community fundraising, but he has stuff that I'm sure others would be interested in.

I can appreciate your stance Mark, but I would have rather paid for Bio Force than have never gotten it all all

Also, I dont see any reason to villify someone for requesting compensation for a dump. I am sure you can agree with that.

I've given to community dumps in the past, so I've certainly been in that camp in the past.

It's odd, as I really do think it's kinda weak to ask for compensation for releasing something you bought and don't own the rights to.  Then again, how many times have I done basically the same thing by doing a CIB release of an unreleased game?

It's the hardwork it takes to release a game and then get compensated that makes them appes and oranges to me, but I totally see where you're coming from.

Also, I should say that Martin is a great guy who has done more for collecting than almost anyone I can think of, so I should give him a fairer shake.

You guys certainly set a good example with all your public dumps. I have them all downloaded.

Very generous.

We don't see enough N64 dumps. I just made a small donation to this, and I've never donated to anything online before.

Level 1
Instead of the ring levels Superman starts off by saving an ambulance. The next objective is to shoot some Shadow guys with your laser and as that happens the shadows scream, "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK". Kill three Shadows and thats level 1.

Level 2
You start in a maze to find and rescue Jimmy Olsen. You rescue him and he tells you to diffuse some Kryptonite gas.

Level 3
Starts you off with the objective to destroy 7 Rhino's which the player does by throwing them into the water lol. There located around Metropolis so it may take some time for someone who's never played this before. Then it says to defeat Mala. The player finds her in the middle of the city and engage in combat. This fight sequence looks terrible. The player just taps the punch button for awhile and defeats her.

Thats where I stopped watching. The game seems much more tolerable but thats not saying much.

You should put up something to show where you are with donations, since apparently someone sent one already

Hopefully this thread doesn't start turning into anti-community dumps. Bio Force isn't the best example, btw. From what I understand it practically was like a community dump. Several people, all close Lost Levels contributors/friends of Frank, pooled together to afford it. It wasn't asking gaming communities publicly to pay them, but in the end more than just one guy pooled their resources together to make it happen, so it's kind of a case of where do you draw the difference just because you weren't behind the scenes.

So long as something lost gets out there, all's good with me Besides, I've never seen someone try to argue "Uh...you should just give it for free instead, I don't agree with this" magically persuade someone into suddenly going back and say "Oh man, you know what, you're right, I'm sorry, here you go." Never gonna happen. He's the one with the trump card, so he calls the shots after all.

All that said... I'm not donating since I don't like this game =p But I can offer moral support....

I know about the Bio Force Ape fundraiser but didn't want to go into a discussion about that, as I wasn't a part of it (wasn't asked).

The fundraiser is available here http://www.nesworld.com/cgi-bin/y...
and thanks for the moral support :-)
