I'm in BIG trouble this week if people are getting scores in the six figures on one life....Don't have much experience with this game and the little bit I played yesterday proved that I have a long way to even sniff any of those scores.
I suggest focusing on level 1 to start. Keep playing it over and over until you can get over 100k in it. My highest score in level 1 so far is 200k. But the method I'm using makes the whole game incredibly difficult.
Is 200k possible in level 1? I'm always getting ~125k. Where are all the points coming from?
Presumably dragging the level out by only destroying certain objects/enemies
This is the correct answer.
Areas in this game are dictated solely by the death of the boss. The boss will appear after X number of "THINGS" are destroyed. Literally everything you destroy counts as 1 towards this counter. So if you go pacifist against the normal enemies and towers, you can get by only killing the mid-boss and blocks worth 1-2k each.
Also, the game and normal enemies progress in a linear fashion. What you see as being "Area B" I am seeing in Area A by dragging it out. The enemies always come out in the exact same order, and that includes the difficulty of those enemies. In other words, I am on Area A getting attacked by the enemies you're usually seeing in Area B and so forth.
By doing this it's teeeeeechnically possible to get over 1 million points in Area A. But I'd argue that it's next to impossible, as it would require an ungodly amount of skill and luck. Not killing enemies in this game is typically a death wish.
I'm not saying that I regularly get 200k on Area A, just that I was experimenting with the game and was able to do so on a few occasions. It is not something that I would suggest for this competition.
