I picked up megaman x at a flea market the other day for $15 (good deal? first thing I've picked up outside here and ebay). has 2 very small chips in the label, but other than that pretty good. as I get in the car I noticed the back of the cart is discolored, but the front is in great condition. I wanna first see if the chip is legit, and second try to replace the back.

so where can I get these screwdrivers the cheapest? I'm pretty broke at this point (grad school tuition is ridiculous...)

thanks!

I know that Lukiegames.com sells them for about 5 bucks. If you can find a 4.5mm security bit at Lowes or Home Depot it might run you less.

3.8 mm is for opening NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, and Gameboy Color carts.
4.5 mm is for opening Master System, Genesis and 32X carts. Plus SNES, N64, and Gamecube systems.

There's probably a few more, but if you were to get both gamebits, an ordinary philips screwdriver, and a tri-wing screwdriver, you'd be able to open up just about every retro game and console.

make your own by pulling the ink out of a BIC pen (being a student you should have lots of these), heat up the narrow end with a lighter until the plastic is soft, hold it on the screw for a few seconds until it hardens. Boom! Homemade Nintendo screwdriver.
