Well now that's just odd. Perhaps the laser isn't dead but is dying or you got another underlying issue. Probably still best at $30-ish on that link to replace it if it's acting that badly. Perhaps it's something you can work with as it is now, but I'm doubting it still. Maybe you can get at a pentameter in there and twist it around a bit and see what shakes out.

No update on the $5 ps3, didnt get the part i needed yet. Although i did get a $3 PS3 yesterday. A Cechk01, with 2 Sony wireless controller. Starts up fine and i can use PSN. Wont read any discs, and also it isnt great about ejecting discs, i have to press the button a few times to get it out sometimes. Have not had a chance to open it(im away from home, so i dont have access to the proper screw driver). It does still have the warranty sticker in tact.  Very happy with that deal since the controllers are worth WAY more than what i paid for everying.
