Sure, you've played "Platform" games. And maybe you would say that your favorite kind of NES games are "Shooter" games. But what about that one classification, the one that titles A Clockwork Orange or Tarentino's movies as "cult" films. Well, what about cult games?? Retro-Cult Games. Well, not many people know of this particular genre of NES games, and for those of you who don't, i'm here to school you.

Monster Party is a particularly cult game due to it's ridiculous storyline, insanely bizarre characters, and unbelievably laughable engrish quotes from each of the bosses. The halloween theme of the game is like something Tim Burton would have come up with had he been influenced by loose translation humor and LSD. One of the bosses is a shrimp and an onion ring.I don't think anything else really needs to be said.

This game rocks. =)

Man, talk about timing: I'm just about to do a run through this game in just a few minutes here. I've already beaten two new games this holiday season, so I figured I'd try Monster Party for the trifecta. It'll be a nice (strange!) way to cap off what was, all in all, a very good year.

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Sorry for reviving a dead topic but this review of the game is extremely funny, you should check out the Top 100 List as well. Giant Onion ring...haha...good times. I always thought there would be a sequel.

Sorry I left the review out.  I'm not trying to whore out someone else's site its just a good read if your bored at work.  Possible NSFW...(language) http://www.sydlexia.com/monsterparty.htm

I beat this game last halloween because it seemed a fitting time. I was pleasantly surprised, at first it didn't seem up to much but it turned out to be a quirky game with some genuinely hilarious bosses.
