In this hobby, bid wars can ensue and sometimes an item sells for way beyond what seems to be fair and reasonable.  In this thread we can discuss those sales and post any that you have noticed.

RULES:
1) Auction must be TWO WEEKS old, per FAQ.
2) Feedback must have been received by seller.  Or, if you have compelling justification otherwise (you messaged seller directly, you see the new buyer selling the same exact item, etc.)
3) Format:  Post the exact Item Title in Bold, and the end price.  Then link the auction and provide any discussion that you'd like to add.

Edit: Pics are beneficial to breakup the text.  If you add a small screen capture of the item details it really tells the story.

Mega Man 5 (NES - Game Cartridge, box and instructions booklet)
Winning Bid: $510

End date: March 4th 2016

I will admit condition looked pretty good but $500+?!?!  I'd have guessed a CIB was about $250-$300 in Very Good or better shape.  Feedback was left too, crazy sale!

Harvest Moon Super Nintendo SNES Brand NEW by Natsume
Winning Bid: $3,783.33

End Date: March 2, 2015
Item Link: http://item.ebay.ca/322017845015...

This item was exceptionally Mint, but the price still exceeded my expectations by a good amount (was guessing $2.5k).  I talked with the buyer and they are happy with the condition upon receiving it in hand, the sale is legit.

This blows my mind; I got $700 trade credit for a bunch of empty boxes when I got going in the hobby! Welcome to video game collecting in 2016 where the cardboard and paper is sometimes worth more than the actual game!

was that really idiotic? i mean a fullset is worth about $750-800.
So he got the box for $610, buys the manual and the cartridge which is around $100-150 (depends on demand, etc) and has got a similar price as for a full set.

You guys missed the sarcasm.  Jeff (RPGCollector) is the winner of that Kid Dracula that he linked so he's poking fun at himself.  That's the rare -1 variant that he needed and posted about it on NA.

Congrats again Jeff, but yes I'd have thought the box only (not counting it as a variant) would be closer to $400-$450.  That end price did shock me too, but all makes sense now!

Oh and almost forgot this one.  Langenfeld had some impressive sales on his sell-out but this took the cake:

Nintendo NES POWER BLADE 2 Complete CIB w/ Box VERY GOOD
Winning Bid: $1600.00

End Date: January 2, 2016
Item Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-...

Thought this was a $500-$600 title and this sale went bonkers.  That's what can happen with a bunch of like items at open auction ending on Sunday night with international shipping enabled.

Wow, some of these seem/are bonkers. Nice idea for a thread, since people make so many disparate threads balking at individual sales; consolidation is always nice.

I really thought this thread would catch on more... does no one care, or do people just not have their own links to post?

I present another, a $600+ CIB of Bucky O Hare, sold with feedback left.

I think its a fun idea and it will have legs.   Just take a bit of work, and then when you are most interested in a result, you can't even post it due to the 2 week rule.

So when its fresh in your mind it isn't appropriate for the thread

That Bucky O'Hare is absolutely ridiculous. I hope this bidder isn't fly by night and truly wanted that. At that rate they will be out soon, 600 dollars can be more wisely spent in this hobby. Or anything else for that matter.

Kid Dracula makes sense now! The elusive -1.

EDIT: The irony this post just struck me! The Kid Dracula I get though. Bucky, geez.

Here's another one for the list, but may not get love because it is Gameboy.

Full disclosure, public data on Rampart for GB is pretty sparse.  I knew it had some good value since I sold a CIB in February, but I didn't expect a Sealed one to get this high.  I figured $350-$400 tops.
