Huh. Okay. I haven't been able to make it to him yet. Level 7 is a bit harder, I feel like if I don't go into it juiced up from lvel 6 I won't get any where, but we'll see.

Congrats on Gradius ll, by the way. I've been meaning to buy that one for a while, but keep getting side tracked.

Thanks!

Re: Life Force, it's not like a whole level comes after Zelos (the final boss), but it does have a patented Konami "oh, you think you're safe? Screw you!" section. You'll see when you get there.

Those meatball enemies piss me off. Fortunately the level is short.

Just the arms in the one vulnerable spot. It's better to dodge them, but don't get trapped at the screen edge.

Also, I know slowdown is a fact of life with the Gradius games, but that section is horrible.

Shoot, I was fully loaded and didn't manage to kill one. I've been playing for a couple days now and this was my first time past the level 3 boss.

Okay, you can kill the meatballs, they just take a shitload of hits. And somehow I'm getting further, but with fewer points.

I've played games with slowdown and it's usually easy to adjust, but this is on a whole dif level. It slows down and sometimes it feels like the bullets slow down but the meatball still moves quickly and corners you, or everything slows down then when your about to get out of the way the bullet speeds up and hits you.

I got to level 6, but very briefly and with a bad score. L

Since I beat this for the first time, I will let you know something you may not know. If you have a shield and drive into the first level bosses eye, it will kill him.

Level 2 - Gradius 3- PS2 - Standard Mode - 53,640.

This may be the hardest shooter I've played.

Gradius (NES)

1st loop - 1LC

478,200

2nd loop - Level 1

510,600

The ftory of how our hero difcoverith his true felf.

So, funny story. I recently got some replacement screws for my usual controller. It had a few that were on the verge of being stripped, so I wanted to exchange them out. And why not clean the contacts on the board while I have the thing apart.

I checked the pads and the d-pad contact pad is completely shot. No wonder I've been crashing into things. Fortunately I had a set of close to OEM pads and after a good cleaning and whatnot, the game is a heck of a lot easier.

So I am dense and I no deathed Gradius. Gloves, update the leaderboard, please.

Cool, you did it. Now you’ve beaten Gradius 1, 2, and Life Force. What does 1LC mean? What’s next?

Thanks!

1LC = 1 life clear, no death, or no miss as some shooter fans say.

I still have Parodius Da! to get through to complete the Gradius 8 bit series, and if you want to get technical, Wai Wai World 1 and 2 each have a Gradius shooter stage.

Other shooters, I still have B-Wings, Exed Exes, Galg, and a few other early Famicom shooters that I have started. The big issue with them is that they're really rough around the edges. And a bit monotonous. Especially Galg.

I'd also like to try to improve my Recca score, maybe take a shot at the second quest.
