Considering the contests have been running since 2009, I'm actually surprised that me, guillavoie and Tom are the only players with more than one championship. Since I started playing in 2012, I would've thought that I had more than 15 total wins considering most of them had to have come from last year alone.

I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at all of those old contest scores. It seems like it was a long time ago when I started playing towards the end of the 2012 season.

It would be probably be a lot of work to add all of those up, but it would pretty cool to have a running list of genre award winners.

 

....I'm not into icons... but I just might make an exception next year...

I did not realize you counted that has a championship for Doug. With all due respect for him and for the awesome score he posted under Tier 1 rules in the final round, this can't be recognized as a championship, nor even a legit win without accepting that 'special tratments' are okay.

I'm actually surprised Doug that you haven't mentionned this somehow, I mean, you know this can't pass, lol

Bimmy was extra short on tournament participants that year due to a couple of last second dropouts and I was added as an emergency replacement. Since it wouldn't have been fair to add me to Tier 1 since I hadn't played that season (other than one or two contests I think) everyone got promoted and I ended up being a Tier 3 fill in since otherwise everyone in Tier 3 would've basically had an automatic bye to the finals due to the lack of players. When the final round game ended up being Double Dragon 2, I didn't want to take any prizes away from the players that actually participated during the season, so I asked Bimmy if I could just compete under Tier 1 rules so that all of the Tier 3 finalists could be awarded a physical prize since I was just filling in. My Tier 1 rules score was higher than arnpoly's first place score so I was given an honorary Tier 1 first place icon since I did legitimately beat his score under the same rule set.

It seems like we discussed this via PM back then, but I just posted the long version of the story. Bimmy needed a last second fill in to keep everyone in Tier 3 from getting a bye to the finals and I didn't want to take a prize away from anyone that actually qualified for the tournament. I can't really cut and paste from my phone, but Bimmy made a post on page 11 of the finals thread stating that he awarded me an honorary icon for donating my Tier 3 prize back and submitting the top score under Tier 1 rules.
