Thanks. Admittedly, I've had lots of time to practice. I originally received this game as a birthday gift back in '93 and have been playing it fairly regularly since then. At this point, I can pretty consistently "no-death" the game and as long as you don't die, the game is actually fairly easy. It's what I call a "momentum game". If you can keep your rythm and your power-ups, you'll be fine. Consequently, it suffers from that "Gradius syndrome" where death at the wrong time and place can almost make certain stages unwinnable. So my advice: don't die. Simple enough, right?

Also, the lightsaber is pretty much garbage in this game. Avoid it. If you have the Flame gun or higher, it's universally better to just shoot instead. And Chewie has a slightly longer health bar to start than Luke or Han and since health can be so crucial in this game, I personally recommend always picking Chewie when given the option.

Updated my scores. Beat super star wars, and had a solid pacman run. Got passed the banana stage and was on the random fruit second stage. I didnt really shoot for multiplier scores this time. Just seeing how far I could get, which in turn resulted in my highest score haha.

I say make the rules , take a pic at the beginning of the xwing stage. I did that so I matched Webb because if I took it later Id have gone over his score. Pretty much the xwing level and trench lever are going to be about the same score for everyone and the trench has no score on the screen. I say take a pic at the beginning of the xwing stage. Keeps it simple. When playing it , you have to be focused and could easily beat it before realizing you needed 1 more.

Agreed. So much easier that way.

Oooops, did not notice your reply till now. Sorry.
Yeah, of course, really no blame on anyone! That game scoring system is so messy, that we had to change the rules several times, so no wonder it gets confusing to everyone, myself definitely included!

Also, I agree with Brock. The game could be kind of good and fun if it was a PvP tournament (and however, SFII would be better anyways); in SP instead it is really unlikely to be fun, compared to games like SFII Turbo (next October!), and with such silly score system, it is even less appealing.

I just got a new personal best on ms pac man. Only ten points behind quest's score. I'll post the pictures later when I'm near my computer. Only one pellet from tieing first. Lame...

I gave super star wars an honest try but I find the controls to be completely borked. I'm not a fan of the games and it's not my style of game so I think that's the best effort I'll put forth. The lava at the bottom of the sand crawler level is complete bullshit.

It took me way to many tries to climb up the sand crawler!

i used to think the lava part was rough. Then I learned exactly how to handle it and havent lost their since. It used to give me trouble. I will tell you that the lava monster is impossible if you dont have atleast a smoke gun or ion beam. In other words. Dont die.

The one level that is complete bullshit is the cantina. You have to get health swords throughout the level. HAve a plasma gun and if you dont beat the boss on the first go around you might as well turn it off. Theyll respawn you at the end and you wont get any health upgrades and only 1 gun upgrade at that point. Not enough. That boss is a piece of shit and there is barely any strategy. Its just whale on him and hope you miss his neck and arms enough

I had all 3 super star wars games as a kid so I like it. Plus I like star wars. This one is actually the easiest to beat. Webb is right. Dont die. It sounds ridiculous to say that , but the game is easier to no death than to die occasionally and still beat it.

You Need to put something like this below but bold it . Its a progression contest. Score is a tiebreaker

Updated my super star wars score. I wasn't happy with my initial attempt so I gave it another shot. The game got easier once I figured out how the jumping works.

I finally was able to get a better score on ms. pac-man. I spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to better my score. Normally I'd be happy with second in the standings but only being behind by 10 points made me want to get the top spot. I made two more scores in the 40k's but none topping my previous score until this run.

I was able to get 13,000 points in the first round and was up to 24K going into the blue levels. I only died once through the three blue stages, which for me rarely happens. It was the first time I made it past the first orange level with the pear as the fruit. I ended up dying on the orange level with the banana.

I was really pushing to get to the 50k mark but I am happy with what I was able to get. I think I'm done with Pac-Man for a while (unless someone posts a better score in the next few days). If we have pac-man in the contests in a future year I suggest having the bonus point at 50k instead of 100k. I think getting 50k would be extremely challenging but doable, while 100k without the booster may be impossible.

Updated my Super Star Wars score on page 1. Still making a few passes at Ms. Pac-Man. Even though I love the Pac-Man series and it has a lot of personal connection to me, I've never been very good at any of them (except maybe DX) and it shows in my scores. I think my best Ms. Pac-Man run thus far was ~12,000.

This makes low-scoring the game a real chore because it means faster playtime = more points. But with a lot of patience and some creative practices, I was able to shave my score down by about 85%. Still love this game, warts and all.
Good to know.  I have Return of the Jedi on next year's schedule (real shocker), do you know if that suffers from the same issue?

I dont really think its an issue. In super star wars enemies respawn relentlessely and you could point farm in a high score contest. So either has flaws. Since progress is the goal, it is what it is.
