it's never faster to wait for the curtain to come down, wait for the score, enter a blank high score, and start up again. resetting the game is faster. i will work on a video if i need to. i just think it's strange that i'm getting this flak and i'm not even in first place. and, like i said, i was trying to beat a score that was posted before mine was. and if my score gets deleted because i can't make a video, it would bum me out but i know i didn't cheat.
The reason you're being asked for further proof of your score is because of the way it is presented. It appears you have achieved your 70,000+ score in one attempt when everyone else's pictures show that it has taken at least several attempts to achieve their high scores on Mode B. With the very high difficulty of Mode B, Height 5, it is a pretty good challenge to get a good score on this mode and it has taken everyone many attempts to get their scores. That is why I am not asking anyone else for further proof of their scores. Because yours shows only one attempt is why I ask for further proof. If you can equal or better your score through a video or a picture that proves the attempt was played on Mode B, Height 5, then everything will be good. If dra600n's score was presented in the exact same way as yours, I would be asking for further proof. Same goes for rdrunner or Dain or zeldaboy or anyone else who would have posted in the same manner. The contests are more popular than they ever have been and this year prizes are at stake, so in order to uphold the integrity of the contests, I will be stricter than I ever have been when it comes to the legitimacy of scores.
I'm skeptical that score is even possible starting at 9-5. over 70k is like 4 tetrises minimum, maybe 5. the limited space to work in means you are going to have to clear a tetris almost as soon as is possible. and you have to not fuck it up the other blocks along the way. it seems highly improbable the piece distribution is going to be that cooperative.
It's definitely possible, just not likely without several hours of attempting it. Here's the breakdown:
You can get 7 Tetris's (25 lines to clear, divided by 4 is 6.25). 6 tetris's = 24 lines, and you can get a 7th with the last one line remaining. Probability of that happening to where the board is set up well enough (and low enough) to make that happen? Very, very, very slim.
Level 9 tetris's are worth 12,000 points. 7 * 12,000 is 84,000 points. Add in the 5,000 point bonus for the height, and you have a max total of 89,000 points (without pressing down for speed point bonuses).
The most I've ever gotten was around 78,000 during the tournement of champions last year, but I never ended up posting the score because Guilavoie posted a score of like 10 because he hates tetris (which I didn't know, so I spent an exhuberant amount of time playing B-TYPE), so my highest score that I posted (which was also broadcasted live) was I think 65 or 66k.
To get 70k or higher, you at minimum, 5 tetrises, and to finish up the board (and not just single lines). When I hit my posted high score in the ToC, I screwed up and wasn't able to finish the level (I think I had 2 or 3 lines left to clear), which DOES still give you the height bonus.
I was skeptical of his score as well, but I wasn't going to say anything.
And no, it's not faster to reset the game than the enter in your name. Just press start. Once you have a few scores in there, it won't even ask you.
