Thanks for making me feel dumb. They did such a good job with this game that I didn't even consider the [item name removed] to be the same as the [item name removed] from the first game. Haha.

Anyway, now I'm lost trying to find level 6. Found 7 and 8 no problem! And I found lots of heart pieces!

Such a fun game! Lots of new things to think about.

Sorry

Yeah, since none of the other features of that item behave similarly, I can understand why it wouldn't be immediatley obvious, but Digdogger pops up over and over in this one, just like the original, and based on enemy behavior being maintained in this game, i didn't get the impression that he'd reprogrammed that portion of the game, in any way (other than the Gannon fights)

Also, it occurs to me that I don't think the Digdogger clue appears in this game, since the text was replaced by something else in-game. (despite the Dodongo clue remaining in Level 2)

Level 6, if I recall, you need already be in the dark world on the approach, otherwise there is no way to switch worlds and get to the entrance.

You're making my head explode a little that you have Gannon as an avatar but haven't played the original LoZ...

All of the bosses in Legend of Link are from the original game.  They have some relativley minor graphics differences to bring them into the style of the rest of the game.  Their attacks and their weaknesses are identical, though.

Well, to be fair the two headed dragon is a LITTLE different now.

edit: And I'm finally at the last skull dungeon.  Gotta go buy some potions and try to put this game to rest!

A little bit.  And the 4 headed Gleeok is reduced to a 2 headed Gleeok.

I'm really sad about the sprite limits he blew through with his changes to the item bar.
And having the shield as a separate sprite.

Not really worth the trade-off in enemy count, at all.

Haven't played the original LoZ? Have you lost your mind? Lol I just haven't been able to follow the cryptic conversations you've been posting as I honestly didn't read a lot of it. For some reason I was thinking Dodongo instead of Gohma.

that sentence you posted about the "classic one eyed spider boss" had me wondering

In terms of cryptic posts, I was trying to be helpful/encouraging without dumping the spoilers.
And I assume Kevin was doing the same thing, in terms of spoiler avoidance.

Yeah, that is around how many I missed.  Skipped 2 that I knew where they were, since I would have still needed one more for a complete heart.
I neglected to take the book to the old lady, so that might have covered 3 of the 7.

Currently mapping the game, though, so I intend to find them all.

I just beat it also. I am also missing 7 heart pieces, but only missing one heart? Definitely didn't expect that ending.

Yeah the boss fight was definitely unexpected.

So you have 15 heart containers and are missing 7 heart pieces?  Strange.

I'm working on putting together maps and a guide, but it is a slower process than I'd hoped.

I'll definitely be interested in having you and Subcon help play-test the guide and make sure I didn't miss any secrets.

It will probably be a few weeks, though, before I have a rough draft together.

Been a bit slower going than I would have liked, but I will definitely let you know.

Is it possible to do a running jump? I have the feather and the boots but I can't get the boots to work. I equip them on A but nothing happens.

I saw Metal Jesus Rocks plugged this game in one of his recent videos. I wasn't aware of this hack, it looks good!

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

Well, "slower going" has translated into "dead project", for me.

If anybody wants to take up the mantle of doing a guide, I would be happy to furnish the screenshots and files I've already assembled to save you some time.

Too many other things (and unfinished projects) in my life right now, so this isn't going to happen from me.

It is truly an amazing hack.

Other than Pyron it is hard to think of anything else that comes close, in terms of how substantial the mod is and the quality of the final product.
