Met an awesome dude on a Saturn forum and picked up a few nice developmental CDs, including one of my grails:

CD Dates/US Release Dates

Darius Gaiden - CD date is 12/21/95, US release date is sometime in 1996, I believe sometime in the April-May span. However, important to note it's a port. The cool thing about this disc is it's straight from Akklaim. Runs with a modded Saturn/Action Replay.

Shining Wisdom Silver - No date, but this is probably final as these silver discs were just taken off the assembly line, I believe, with no cover stickers. Obtained from Sega America HQ in San Francisco. Runs fine in a normal Saturn, no mods.

Shining Wisdom Silver/Gold - Dated 4/11/92, US release date is 6/26/96. Not sure if there are any differences, I haven't ripped anything yet and I'm honestly not sure how. Never worked with Saturn discs before. Runs with a modded Saturn/Action Replay.

Shining Force 3 - The prize! Dated 4/23/98, release date 5/31/98. Again not sure if there are differences, as I haven't ripped anything, though I wouldn't be surprised given the changes made in translations due to parts 2 and 3 not being planned for release. Runs with modded Saturn/Action Replay. Now I just need Shining Force 1 for Genesis to complete my Holy Trinity. Anyone got one hanging around?

As per redump.org's disc info, which I assume to be accurate:

Shining Wisdom's written date postdates the US final build date (4-9-1996) by 2 days.
Darius Gaiden's date is the final US build date.
Shining Force III, on the other hand, has a final US build date of 6-24-1998, so a 4/23 date would obviously precede this by two months.

I expected to be disappointed because I thought it would be some unrelated game with Shining in the title.

A bit of a necro bump here, but I've finally gotten around to having someone dump the CD and run a compare to the US release, and...

Lots of differences! Roughly one-third of the binary files are dated differently and I believe contain other differences (I need to check with the individual helping me). Many of the files predate by a few months, and some are as far back as like 8 months before the US release date. The text files are identical, which unfortunately I believe means the ending is not different, but I don't know if any binary files can hold text, as well? I dunno, I'm not well learned on this particular subject.

I am having a number of copies made and don't plan on withholding anything from the public, so once we get a little more done with this, I'll probably have some copies shipped around to those interested. It will require a modded Saturn or Action Replay, but should run perfectly fine with either of those. I'll prob start another thread, maybe in the seller's forum or Collector's corner once I'm ready to distribute. I won't charge too much (maybe like $15?), not interested in making a big profit off this. If you're interested, feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll get you on a list. I've originally asked for 10 copies, but I can always ask for more I believe.

I would totally be interested in one! I've been doing a play through of the Shining Force series. I beat SF1, and am just past the Kraken in SF2(Made sure to get the Achilles Sword before that fight.)

Some good news. I've had someone really familiar with SF3 do a runthrough, and there are already at least a handful of confirmed differences. Different monster names, item names, save features, etc. I'll be getting the discs this week probably, so those that have expressed interest shall get them soon!
