I've definitely been getting into this game more than I thought I would. When I did my practice runs after Life Force was named as a possible tournament game, I sucked at it worse than I did at previous shooters. Now? Well, I still suck, but I suck a lot less! Um, yeah, that sounds bad... Anyway, I'm still going to keep trying till Sunday!

Also, I wanted to stop in and say great scores to everyone who has posted so far and wish good luck to all the rest of the way.

FINAL SCORE: TIER 3 - 278,460

I had my best run of the week last night. Made it up to the moai heads at the end of level 6 on one life, cleared the barriers without any problems, and then made a few careless mistakes in the second loop that I couldn't recover from. I played a little bit today but couldn't get back in the zone. I think this is the best I've ever done without the Konami code and I had a lot of fun competing with you guys and polishing up my shooting skills!

I'm really glad this game was chosen for the finals because it's one of my favorite shmups. Played all night and worked my way up to this score just after the bubbles. I know I can top this score (soo close to 200,000!) but I'm posting this shot now to get a moment on top of this week's leaderboard while I still can. It's been a lot of fun competing against you guys and I think this round will once again be very competitive. I'm sure the final scores will be amazing!

Fantastic score man! I'm really loving that this game is being well received! It definitely is an underrated classic and I really hope we play it again next season!

Lots of great scores! This game is challenging for me, so seeing the scores everyone has posted so far would have destroyed me lol.

I can't wait to see Tom's score. I'm sure it will crush mine several times over, but it will be worth it just to see how amazing it is.

I definitely regret not playing this game more back in the day (I rented it once), I was never much of a shmup guy except for loving Gradius III. Life Force is a lot of fun -- and a nice challenge, too.

Anyway, today is going to be my best possible playing day (a couple hours, hopefully), so here goes the final stretch!

I have my game paused at the moment but I made it through the final stage and am looping around to the first. I lost like 3 lives on the last part where the barriers close in. Over 230k at the moment with 4 lives.

Go Logo go! Just watch out for those blue arms...they shoot projectiles the 2nd time around...and so do the arms of the brain boss. And the machine boss of the 2nd stage reverses his arms back and forth periodically.

Man, that stage with the fire the 2nd time around does not mess around! I'm getting right back into the thick of things. I'm in the zone right now.

Thanks! I knew my lead wouldn't last long, though. Getting ready for another all-nighter over here!

Ugh.  One last boss battle would have been 2 million.  Got hit by one of those spread shot cannons.  Their shots are ridiculously fast during the harder loops and can destroy you even if you have a force field!  Made it to Loop 6, which took about 2 1/2 hours.

I won't be playing again, so now it's up to you guys.  I know at least one of you can beat this score.  Bring it!

Full out beast mode right there! Better make room on your shelf for Mario is Missing. If we play this next year,I hope to seriously challenge you. I also hope we play Jackal next season so I can hopefully give you a run for your money at that game as well.

Wow! I don't think I'm going to have any time to play today, but there's no chance that I would even get close to that score. Awesome score as usual Tom!

Bimmy put this guy in tier 0 next time and let him play with himself.        ;-)

My money would still be on Tom even if Bimmy put him in a tier with Chuck Norris and a self aware NES built by Skynet.

You sure are a quotable guy, Doug.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

Edit: Tier 2- 401,190. Some awesome scores posted so far. I made a few costly errors in the beginning and esp getting to this boss (the fire dragon level gets me everytime). But, good choice for the finals and can't wait to see what the final scores will be!

Also, just wanted to say thank you to both Bimmy and ookii_risu (for supplying some of the giveways) for this competitive yet fun contest and tournament. It's been alot of fun competiting against everyone and look forward to the next Weekly Contest! Good Luck to all!

Is this the earlier release where you can microwave the hamster or a later run where they removed it from the game?

Sorry gutsman, I totally overlooked this question.  To be honest, I'm not sure lol.  For the prizes, I just clean and then test them for a few minutes to make sure nothing is seriously wrong with them.  I guess it will be a surprise to whoever wins Maniac Mansion   Speaking of which, whoever wins this game, let me know if you can microwave the hamster or not when you play.  I'm curious lol.
