I'd rather just do one playthrough. I'm just not a big fan of looping the same game over and over.

Not a problem.  We can stop after one playthrough so it doesn't become a grind for everyone.

I beat it this afternoon, but I kept playing so my score wouldn't have counted. I tried again a little bit ago, but I only made it to the middle of stage 5 that time. This actually isn't that bad of a game. It seems like the biggest flaw is picking up the hearts that give you energy. I don't think you can pick them up unless your hand literally touches it when you kneel down.

Went to try and take a picture and the damm thing froze...ugh, its a sign.
Also, be careful on the second level popeye armed baseball guys (I got caught by one on the bottom of the screen and the guy just kept hitting me).

Just played a little bit of this and grabbing the hearts is really touchy. Doug is right, you have to have your hand over the top of them when you reach down to grab them. You also can't pick them up when holding a weapon. Learned the hard way while holding a baseball bat and got pummeled a bit by a couple enemies.

Also, sweep the legs when in trouble...most enemies only take 3 hits. Though the trenchcoat perverts are a pain sometimes.

Okay, sounds good to me. Everyone will be allowed to play with the extra life.
Is looping of the game allowed? When you beat the game it starts over at level 1, but your score doesn't reset so it's possible for you to keep playing.

I don't have a problem with you guys looping the game, but if everyone thinks it will make the contest more of a grind, we can make it forbidden.

If the game doesn't get harder after you beat it, I would prefer to stop after one loop. No need to play forever that game

I only played through most of the first level on the second loop and I didn't notice any difference. The Twin Galaxies record is 543,410 so I'm guessing that the difficulty stays the same since my score after one loop was in the 25k range.

Then, I'd personally vote for no loop.

I put a disclaimer in the rules that says no looping of the game. We will basically do what we did in the Castlevania contest: stop playing the game when it loops over and take a picture.

Also, it has been a while since I have given away a random prize since participation has been low. If we get some players this week, perhaps I will give away a prize (hint, hint).

No looping? I figure everyone would want to play this until their eyes bled. I mean c'mon....this is the greatest game released in the history of gaming!

I forced myself to play E.T for the Atari 2600 in one sitting until I finally beat it so looping this game would seem like a blast by comparison. This game isn't anywhere near that bad, but one time is still good enough for me. I even managed to dent my controller from throwing it.

Awesome! At least we aren't playing Volleyball this week. You'd have much more than a dented controller.

No kidding. The most I've ever been able to score is 2 points in a single game. If the controls weren't so awkward on top of the insane difficulty, it might actually be playable.

Needs more work. lol. I keep getting tripped up with the 3rd level boss. A fine little game, nowhere near as good as the Kunio-kun games though. ^>^

So, fun news for me. I'll be playing on a cart this week! I got a copy, and the tracking says it'll be here before the contest ends! So, yeah. Exciting to me.

I'm probably going to get a head start on Rollerball for next week since I saw a copy at my local game store the other day. It's a really fun game for those who haven't played it (assuming that you like pinball games).

It is but I'll be sitting next week out again since I don't own it. I'll be back for Arch Rivals (fun game in the arcade and even as a port).

Score updated. Getting better at the game. I kinda like it now. haha. Was close to beating the game but lost it near the end of stage 6. Squandered my extra life in level 2 (bah!). ^>^
